Oh, for anyone who wants to stay at the Delta Chelsea next year, write this down:
Go to priceline.com and use the "Name your own price" feature for Toronto hotels, and select 3 1/2 stars+ in GTA North, starting at $50/night or so, and progressively increase your bid (I recommend by 10 until you get the "if you raise it by 20, we'll try again now" message, and then by 5 AT MOST). You will get the Delta Chelsea, as it is the only 3 1/2 star hotel in that geographical area. Or you'll get a 4 star hotel that's still pretty close. I got the room for me and Nat for $80/night, but I probably could have gotten it for 75 if I'd thought to go by 5 after getting the message at 70.
Even though I'm in the lobby of the Delta Chelsea right now with some amazing people (DangerousDan, Toku, DuffManMedic, Whtsnk58, Queenspammy, Halo_dudette, and Sigge1981) I'm thinking that once a year for such epicness is just not enough. Miss you guys who had to bail out early.
This has only been my second year at RvBTO, and really this was the first time I came out of my shell at all and talked to people. I'm glad I did, because I met some awesome people and now I'm only regretting that I couldn't stay longer and talk to everybody. I can honestly say that RvBTO this year re-sparked my love for the RoosterTeeth community.
I need to get some of that! My boss usually gets it in kentucky once a month for all the employees but he hasn't done it lately for some reason. It saddens me. Because I only recently was hired. I've only had a sip of it before, but it was so so so good.
Ok so I'm making a goal for myself (yes I'm THAT serious) to get to RVBTO next year. I live in Ottawa so it's not to far away. Would it be best to get a drivers licence and rent a car for the weekend? Looking for you pro guy's opinions.
Well I would have to say from the miniscule amount of experience I have that you wouldn't need a car as long as you stay in one of the hotels within the central Toronto area. Pretty much everything is walk-able and if not then the public transportation in Toronto is decent.
Train it to Union Station, then go to the Delta Chelsea, as that's the place many RvBTOers get rooms. Everything is walking distance or short TTC distance away from there, so you'll be good to go. Other good places are Bond Place and the Canadiana Backpackers Inn, which is a hostel. Just remember that the dates for next year's event haven't been chosen yet, so reserving a room now would be ridiculously premature.
The Canadiana is an alright place. It is definitely the cheapest, but if you choose to go there remember they don't have A/C (or didn't when I went) and you will room with strangers that may come in at 4am drunk as piss unless you get a private room. It is also pretty far from most of the scheduled events.
