I managed to get in last week, damn it looks cool! I managed to get my name down as Ignotus Peverell too, after I saw that EVERYONE was putting down names from the series I thought I'd go for someone important but relatively unknown. :)
The pre-set names are shyte though, I don't want to be "SkullPatronus170". -_-
I just finished book 1 and there are things I LOVE and things I HATE.
I LOVE the behind the scenes character information. Vernon and Petunia's back story was amazing. Professor McGonagall's back story really made me love her character and understand her mannerisms better.
I HATE potion and spells. It's buggy and laggy. Potions can take HOURS to brew, for only a few house points.
I think another frustrating thing is that JK had this beautifully detailed house sorting system. The process itself is RANDOM. So even if you answer the quiz aiming to be a Gryffindor (like I did, I got sorted into Hufflepuff). This is actually causing some problems with the fans, and some people are leaving their accounts because of this.
I will put up more later, but those are my initial thoughts.
I wonder if maybe the sorting thing is intentional. Think about it: who DOESN'T want to be a Gryffindor? Gryffindor and Slytherin would be loaded with people and Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw would only have a handful. It would make the site pretty uneven.
I think if it was random, it would be better to have the sorting hat just pick something for you, rather than take a quiz. I would have been happy with Ravenclaw too, but Hufflepuff? Blerg! Lucky for me, it doesn't really have a lot to with anything more than you earn points for the house cup.
I imagine that they take your quiz answers under consideration alongside the numbers for each individual house. It can't be too lopsided. Actually, in-universe, I imagine that's the way the Sorting Hat does it; what if a particularly ambitious group of first years came along? You can't put them all in Slytherin, can you? It's gotta be even, both in-universe and on Pottermore.
Hello, by the way! I'm new to the thread. My Pottermore name is LumosNimbus65, and I'm proud to be in Ravenclaw. Add me up, if you want to.
Sucky; I've got a bunch of friends who are still waiting for theirs. Out of about ten people I know who found the Magical Quill, only about four of us have gotten in so far. The beta is supposed to be a million people large, and there's only just over 200,000 people in right now; it only runs until the end of September, so I imagine they'll be opening it up to the full beta group soon.
I'm still waiting... quite excited for when it comes... but I'm starting to think that I won't get it until a week or so before it's available for everyone... and I could have waited the extra week instead of religiously checking the site to find the quill... But, I also could get it tomorrow... so we'll see.
