I see. Sorry about that. I guess your right. I'm sure that there are a lot of people out there that only beat halo 3 on easy and don't even know John 117 survived
After seeing him in the cryo chamber at the end of 3 made me expect the next Halo would still be from the POV of chief, but I did think it would have something to do with forerunners.
For people that have read the books, the planet at the end of Halo 3 practically screamed Onyx, which is why the Forerunner theories existed before anything was confirmed.
Considering 343 is made up of former Bungie members and they did a great job with the Halo: CE remake, then I don't see why the shouldn't remake Halo 2. It was such an amazing game, so it might be a way to pull some of the old school, retired Halo players back into the series.
Here's the best way I've found to look at the Bungie/343i Halo situation:
Halo is Bungie's child, and that obviously makes Bungie the parent (Mother, most likely. Microsoft I suppose would be the divorced father). Bungie loves Halo immensely and they were very proud of it all along it's life for all the great things it accomplished and helped them with.
But now Halo has graduated High School, and even though Bungie will always love it's child, it's time for Halo to get on with it's life and go to a prestigious College far away. Bungie isn't tired of Halo, they just realize that they can't do anymore for it and the best thing to do is let it leave the nest and become a strong, fine individual and upstanding member of society.
Fortunately for Halo (Who both Bungie and Halo itself were a little worried it would get stuck with the worst roomates/fraternity in existence), Bungie has family near said far away prestigious College, and that family is 343i.
Now, 343i may seem a little weird and different when compared to Bungie, and Halo might be a little scared or worried that things will change drastically or that 343i will lead it astray, but then Halo remembers that Bungie trusts 343i enough to ask them to take care of Halo, and Halo is Bungie's child. If Bungie trusts 343i, then Halo should trust 343i.
Meanwhile, Bungie still feels that it is in it's motherly prime, and that there's nothing wrong with having two children so far apart in years. As such, Bungie has decided (Since Microsoft hurt Bungie so badly) that it doesn't want to go through a relationship again, but instead just took the scientific route and had an insemination. Bungie has already announced this to everyone (Including Halo), and everyone is eagerly awaiting Bungie's new bundle of joy.
(This post is also going straight to the Halo 4 thread and my profile, rofl!)
Keep in mind though that a remake of Halo 2 would likely be headed by 343i, and I never specifically referenced Halo 4. People were equally worried that 343i would try to change things for CE Anniversary as well, so it can apply to anything related to 343i and Halo.
If they remade Halo 2 hopefully they'd do a better job than they did with Halo:CE. I really wouldn't consider slapping new graphics on top of the old one's enough to be considered a "remake".
Hopefully they'd wouldn't make change the feel of whole levels like they did in the Halo:CE remake either (With the new graphics, the Truth and Reconciliation level is bright enough to be daytime, so much so that it's impossible to use the NV scope)
Well, what else would/could you really do to revamp the game so that it looks great on the Xbox 360 but also still has the nostalgic elements of the classic Halo 2? I think a graphical boost is the exact and only thing a Halo 2 revive would need. Technically, "remake" isn't really the word to use when talking about these games. It's all about bringing the glory days back, man. We don't need it to be diluted.
Yeah you're right. I guess I don't really want anything "new", just to have more of the old. What I really wanted in Halo Anniversary was to actually be able to play Halo 1 multiplayer with 15 other people. That's something I haven't done since I played Halo:CE:CE (Halo:CE Custom edition. You could make custom maps and stuff) on the computer.
For Halo 2, the game that I felt had the best multiplayer by miles (not just in the Halo series, but for any game I have played), having a "remake" with only single player would just seem incomplete. Sadly 343 probably wouldn't want people to play another multiplayer game over Halo 4, so the possibility is very remote.
Now that I think about it, they'll most definitely wait for Halo 4 to come out before releasing a Halo 2 remake. They did the same thing with anniversary as it contained maps for Reach, so Halo 2 will probably contain maps for Halo 4.
I really wouldn't be surprised if they do remake it, it would be a good money spinner and a good way of keeping the Halo community vibrant throughout the wait for Halo 5. What I do think though, is that there is no chance that it will gets its own multiplayer, seeing as quite literally nobody would play it and the netcode is so different to current standards. If anything, we will end up with a CEA type scenario, with Campaign over XBLA (desperately hoping for 4 player) and a bunch of remakes in Halo 4. But for all the people saying they might add in the missing levels, no chance; first of all the extra missions would mess up the story, seeing as the last 1 or 2 were meant to take place where Halo 3 starts and secondly, they would feel off as they would have a different feel to the other, Bungie created missions. I'd love to see it happen, but only if Bungie was contracted out to do the extra levels how they wanted them done.
Halo 2 should be remade as it means all the halo games can be played on the 360 without no problems. It also means to people who have not played halo 2 who want to like me could then complete the full halo experience
As for no one playing the multiplayer, you do know Halo 2 is widely considered to have the best multiplayer of all the Halo games. People were still playing it non stop before they shut it down.
Next Gen console also most likely comes out next year. I also see that if they are going to make a Halo 2 Remake, they will either make it next year, or in 2014 for the 10 year anniversary. So Halo 2 Remake will most likely come out for the Next Gen Console, instead of the 360.
I'm still not so sure that people WANT a next-gen console right now. I'm not saying there hasn't been enough time between the two and that people won't accept it, I'm saying I don't think many people will want to pay for a new console AND/OR some people just may not want to make the switch.

Agreed. There are plenty of amazing games being made for the 360, so honestly I don't see too much of a reason for a new console. Just make what we have, better. Right? Right.
But there are games right now like Skyrim and Battlefield 3 that are pushing the limits with the graphics. I know that people might not want a Next Gen Console; but I think it might be a thing that is needed. I'm sure in the end, everybody will be happy with the Next Gen Console.
I would say that Skyrim is pushing graphics for a large world. They're not the best but they compromised so that you can run it on current gen and/or don't need a supercomputer unlike Crysis, which pushed graphics and still looks amazing.
Well, if you're looking at it from a completely game-based perspective, a next gen console with higher limits (or lower?) would be great. Though it doesn't really end there does it? There are still projects going on for the 360, and say a games average life is about... 6 months. What happens when the console is released 3 months after the latest AC for example? That's also just considering the game-based perspective. There are people who don't feel ready, or don't have enough income (that'd be me) for a new console. There are also still large sales of older games and arcade games, like MC 360 that's still going through updates and such. The Xbox 360 is a great console, and I do admit it's starting to run behind the newer-released games, but I think it would hurt too many industries to make a new console while the 360 is still large and still capable of handling, even if barely, 'new games' for lack of a better term. Still, I may be completely wrong about that.
