NHL headline: Staal tactic (referring to Staal's hat trick in pens game).

Implying that they're doomed anyway.

Sooo was that the real Pens-Flyers hockey game or were we just watching a live stream of someone playing NHL12?

Btw what the fuck did Matt Cooke get ejected for? I was in a crowd of people and couldn't listen to the TV, but from what I saw, it is now a match penalty to get crosschecked in the face a whole lot without retaliating.

Man I like when the Flyers lose.

It's Matt Cooke, does he need a reason?

Cooke was on his knees and was hit in the face by Kubina, so they started roughing in the second. After the refs broke it up he started chirping to anyone in orange, I think it was a reputation call more than anything.

The refs made it clear that everything was going to be called from the start. Taking Cooke out was the wrong call, but the game was virtually over anyway, i think they just want to avoid game 3 antics....

Hopefully Bryz's confidence isn't too badly hurt and we can finish them off on Friday. The goalies have been playing poorly on both teams so who knows what will happen next game.

Also i hope Rinaldo is benched next game, he doesn't have skill and he takes way too many unnecessary penalties, call Shelley up or give an AHLer a chance, anything is better than this kid. Kennedy's cheap shot injured Grossmann (his jaw is broken think) so that is why i think the flyers really lost composure.

Rinaldo is going to get a few games...that play was ridiculously stupid.

I hope at least everyone realizes now that the Flyers may win this series, but they can go no further.

In reply to fnvicky, #1930:

I've seen quotes from him all morning that basically say "We were losing by a lot so I got mad and wanted to start hurting them and no I don't feel bad" (That's closer to an actual quote than anyone should be comfortable with) and yet, I've heard nothing about a hearing for him.

If the Penguins are hypocritical, what does that make Peter Laviolette?

"Confirmed. No discipline for Rinaldo."

This off of the Twitter account of Josh Yohe, a writer for the Tribune Review.

...really?

Remember, nobody was injured...so it's ok to hit guys in the face out of frustration.

One day I want to run into Brendan Shanahan, whip out a revolver and fire a few rounds over his head. He yells, "jesus shit what the fuck are you doing!" and I say "Hey it's not like anyone got hurt here, there's no problem."

Apologies if this has been posted before, but i couldn't resist. There are some real gems in here, even a few from our "pal", Mr. Shanahan.

In reply to TKdademon, #1935:
That would be great, but you would probably need to by him new pants afterwards...

Marc-Andre Fleury played two periods of shutout hockey in Game 4, and his save percentage is still worse than Ilya Bryzgalov's in the series

Had "The Nuge" had a full year then hands-down it would have been him...I just did a stats check on NHL.com and given the stats, I'd really have to give the edge to Gabriel Landeskog - 52 points to be tied for all rookies, you play all 82 games and you are a +20 while The Nuge was a -2 with 52 points in 62 games. 52 points in 62 games is pretty solid but playing all 82 and the + 20 with the 52 points seals it for me.

Gabriel Landeskog for the Calder.

Landeskog has my vote, but if Henrique won I would be happy as well. The bitter Flames fan in me refuses to support RNH.

I don't care if the Hawks don't win, just so long as Detroit and Vancouver both lose too.
