I was worried about this, too. The Marriott by the convention center told me that I can check in at 18, provided I have the card that made the reservation and a valid ID.
So... I know this seems really random, but apparently MrBunns, the winner of the RTX song contest, will have his song played at RTX.
But he cannot go. I think we should start maybe a petition or something so something awesome might happen and he would be able to go to RTX this year, and hear his music be played there. I have no idea how to do this stuff, I'm still ;earning my way around the interwebs, but I think it would be a huge bummer if he didn't go this year
It would absolutely be a huge bummer if he couldn't go. But if I can't help my buddy Newbs get to RTX, then I'm afraid I'm not going to help someone I don't know get there. That's just the way I feel about it, though.
I do hope the guy makes it. Although, I hope more that he becomes a part of this community more than just signing up and submitting a song...
Yeah, I agree. I just put that up so maybe someone from the actual company might see that and go, "Oh, well that would suck". Then again, besides us lurkers and forum admins, ain't no one else going to see this. I just wish he could go, it would be nice seeing he made the darn thing
Your desire to help is wonderful, and it does stink that the composer of a song can't be there to see it played before a live audience, but we also have to be practical. Australia's a REALLY long ways away. For airfare alone, he's looking in the ballpark of $1800 just to get to Austin (According to American Airlines quotes for Sydney to Austin flights). That's already 6 times what I'm spending on flights, hotels, and RTX tickets for the entire weekend. Even if money were the only thing preventing him from going, that's still a lot of money regardless of who's spending it.
No, once again valid points were made. I think we can all agree though that it does pretty much suck that MrBunns cannot attend. Some things happen in life that you just can't have any control over. It sucks but it's true.
Then again, besides us lurkers and forum admins, ain't no one else going to see this.
They only want you to think that they're not watching.
They see things...
Ok, I'm serious, though. The staff watches stuff on the site. I'd be willing to bet that at the very least Barb watches this thread, but probably Ben as well. Hell, one time Glowden suspected that someone was pulling all the featured users from his friends' list and wrote a journal out detailing his belief... Burnie posted a troll image in his journal comments.
That really does suck, and if I hadn't just bought a house with my mother I'd try to help, but money's tight and I can't really help anyone else overmuch.
The device is quite ingenious really. It is housed in the shower-head and powered by the water-flow so it never runs out of power... I've said too much.
