A lot of sports fans have a favorite team in just about every sport they watch, but there's always that one team that holds a special place in your heart, what's your's and why?
For me, it's the Chicago Bulls. (Yeah, I like the NBA) They're one of the best teams in sports any where. When I say "one of the best teams" I don't mean from a talent perspective (but let's be honest, lately, they've been pretty fucking awesome) they have great chemistry, great fans, and hands down one of the best commentary team in sports in Neil Funk and Stacey King.
They have the complete package, and still remain humble. I love it.
For me it's the Pittsburgh Steelers. They're the closest I have to a home town team, and I don't usually here fans of other teams refer to themselves as part of that team like Steelers fans(or at least myself) do.The organization itself is very well respected, Coach Tomlin's brilliance cannot be denied, and the players give so much back to the fans, whether it's merchandise, autographs, or just having a conversation with them(on twitter, for example). With the Steelers, it's less like a fanbase, and more like teammates or extended family across the nation.
My favorite team is the Buffalo Sabres. I never followed sports when I was younger, but my friends dad lived and died with the San Jose Sharks. So my friend and would get him angry and start cheering for the teams that played the Sharks. The first time we decided to do this, the Sharks played the Sabres, so I basically jumped on the bandwagon from there and still support them today. I guess they just bring we back to a time when life was simpler or easier.
I also have a bet with my friends dad over who will win a cup first...that may have something to do with it.
part of me wants to say the Atlanta Falcons, but deep down I'm gonna have to say the New York Mets. I mean I've stuck with both teams when they went through thier troubles, although some of my favorite memories are going to Shea and Citi with my father.plus at this point still being able to take pride in being a Mets fan just means a little more.
My favorite team is the Miami Dolphins. I lived in Virginia Beach growing up and when i was 4 or 5 I decided that I liked football. So the process started of what team i should root for, and after deliberation like only a 5 year old can I came to this conclusion. Virginia doesn't have a team, I live near the ocean, I like to fish, a dolphin is kinda like a fish; Dolphins! and ever since then I've never reconsidered my decision, but when i want to root for a team that will actually go places it went Packers to Jets, for not even any fraction of a season, then to the Vikings and after the old man dick pick I went back to Packers; looking on to Rodgers to be my new Farve.
MLB - The Philadelphia Phillies have been my favorite franchise since i was a wee lad. I used to like the Red Sox but I really just don't follow them closely anymore. I think I'd rather see a team like the Blue Jays or the Orioles win the AL East in upset fashion.
NBA - I don't follow closely anymore. I'd say the Bulls because of MJ. I idolized that guy when i was a kid. Also Space Jam. Ok, never mind my favorite team is the Toon Squad.
NFL - Umm...hmm...the Goddamn Jets.
NHL - Detroit Redwings and the Philadelphia Flyers.
St. Louis Cardinals. I watched every single game from 2004-2007. much harder to do now that I have a job instead of being in college. now I have to listen or watch mlb at-bat
Green Bay Packers. 13 NFL Championships. Every game has been sold out since before 1960. Play out of smallest town in NFL. Has no corporate billionaire owner, instead its owned by the fans (myself included).
I like football more than baseball but I'll be a Braves fan till the day I die. I grew up during the time of Braves' incredible streak of division titles. The year they went from last to first... classic. I think my favorite moment of all time was when Sid Bream slide safe into home to send the Braves back to the World Series. That was almost 20 year ago.
It is a shame that all those great years of Braves baseball we have only one championship (1995). I truly believe we would've one it in 1994 if the strike didn't happen.
