So, yeah, it was just announced. But most sources seem to indicate that it's gonna be a prequel, of all things. I don't know about you, but I find that kind of disappointing. Don't we have already a bunch of prequels/midquels on the PSP? Do they really have to do the same with PS3? It seems like they're unnecessarily milking the franchise now.
I loved GOW 1-3, chains of olympus and ghost of sparta. I can not wait to play this game however santa monica studios has not been producing the best of games when they work with another company and that has me worried.
I would also like to see his brother in game, i remember his reference in the third game but Im waiting to see where it all goes. The multiplayer seems a little iffy but reminds me of power stone.
There's going to be multiplayer in GoW: Ascension!!!! Playstation Magazine says that the multiplayer is two teams face off against each other and there are boss battle sort of things in the multiplayer. Not sure how it's going to work but I'm super excited!!
I don't doubt that like the other GoWs it will be at least decent and entertaining, but the franchise has five games that are essentially all the same and now the main games (the ones on the PS3) are going into prequel territory? I think it's time to do something new and different.
Nnnnyeah I guess it's similar but I stand by what I wrote. I think the Combat Evolved prequels are a little different as the events in ODST and Reach, for example, were kind of mentioned but never explored in the games. In GoW, however, what Kratos was and what he did prior to becoming Aries' champion and his eventual pursuit of revenge were detailed in the first game and then Chains of Olympus and Ghost of Sparta created events. The Halo titles simply let us play things already in the canon. That said I had to roll my eyes at the sequel baiting at the end of Halo 3, even though Halo 4 does look great.
I'll buy Ascension and I'll probably really like it, but I think it's just become another series that needs to be put to rest. Sadly there are way too many that keep adding to existing stories that should just end. In my opinion.
When it comes to God of War, I liked all the connections to Greek Mythology and would normally get bothered when something was less than accurate. Like Kronos for example. In actual myth, Zeus chopped him up into tiny bite size pieces and sent the remains to the darkest pits of Tartarus. So what bothered me in Ascension, the Elephant Man. I don't remember there being elephants anywhere in Greek myth. Maybe Hindu myth. I don't doubt the gameplay will be good, but the game overall will probably not surpass GoW3. Any thoughts?
I don't know why a prequel is being made, I much prefer to see the story from Kratos crawling off the mountain into all the chaos, but I guess since that is what Kratos wanted to happen that is the where the story should stop. But a game telling a story about Kratos before the chains and all the hatred against the gods? well we have been hearing that since GoW 1. I did though like how the two games on the PSP help set more store leading into GoW 1 and GoW 2, so when I heard that it was going to be yet another one of those I thought it was going to lead the player into GoW 3 but nooope.
Hey I am really excited for this game for everything that I have seen and with the multiplier that sounds like a fun concept for this game that you would think wouldn't do well as a game with multiplier but from what i seen it looks like it will be really good. I don't care if it is a prequel or not it looks really good and I am excited to play it in two more months
