I have discovered a mod for Arma II called Day Z which is completely awesome. It is a realistic zombie RPG which allows you to live out your fantasy as a survivor of the zombie doomsday on a very large island. You get to scavange through the abandon houses, discover new place and people which you will find out not all players are friendly. If anyone else is playing this mod or might be starting new in it just post maybe we can get a little survivor group going and have fun.
Haha, did you see Criken's live stream of it last week too? It's honestly one of the scariest and coolest things I've seen in a long time. I wish my rig was powerful enough to run it. Definitely going to try and get my PC gaming friends to buy it so I can invite myself over and play as much of it as I want.
I got arma just to play this. It is so sick. It's a whole new level of intense that I haven't felt in a game in years.
If anyone is interesting in getting a group together for this (like 5 people or more) I'm more than happy to pay for a vent server, Teamspeak, or Mumble. Which ever works best.
If anyone is interested just post in here and once we get enough people I'll set it up.
I always find it hard to buy games full price on Steam. I know it's been on sale in the past, too. But will they put it on sale seeing as it's doing so well at full price?

I read somewhere that its going to be on sale but on Amazon. So if you're ok with not buying it on Steam you can get it for $15.
You have to buy ARMA II and Operation Arrowhead both to use the mod. I bought them together for $30 on steam and it was totaly worth it. If they fix a few things, mostly moonless nights, or even come out with servers with reduced night time spans I'd totaly pay retail $60 pricetag for it. It's awesome. My only complaint is the whole real time thing, if you've played it, you now how super hard it is to play at night, especialy for a new players. Those of us who have jobs.... Well we can ONLY play at night unless we go to a euro server where we lag to hard to play anyways.
If you're comming into it without prior knowledge of the maps, FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF It's impossible to know where the hell you are and about impossible to meet up with people.
It has the potential to be the best zombie game ever. But it's in Alpha so I fear things could get worse as well, they've already decreased loot rates and increased zombie numbers. The biggest problem playing the damn game is other players. More zombies would be awesome, if shooting at them wasnt a death sentance enforced by other players. I feel like if you die as a bandit, you should either be not allowed back into the serversfor 15-30 minutes or you spawn with NO gear every time you die for an hour or somthing. Some kind of real insentive not to just be a cock who shoots immediately with no real reprocussions. As it stands people are ass holes, so everyone shoots first because if they dont, they die, if they do they live longer and maybe get killed later OH NO! pfffrffttt. Needs to be smoothed out.
This Mod is built to be played with friends. You can be the lone ranger where you go around eating beans left, right and centre. But where this game really shines is with friends.
Here's a little story to show just how awesome this game is.
A group of my mates got ourselves a heli. Now these things a rare. So rare that theres a bug that doesn't allow them to respawn once they blow. We had a camp in the middle of butt fuck no where, however, there was another heli on the server. With the radar you can find vehicles and heli's quite easily. So we were hanging around our camp until we heard the blades of a heli coming closer. We instantly feared for someone stealing our heli, so we dashed to the nearest tree line.
This Heli lit up the dark black void of night and shone its spotlight onto our heli and then onto the tree line where we were. A second later they opened fire at where we were. Instantly we unloaded everything we had into the heli, killing a gunner and hitting their fuel tank. They limped off. Battered and bruised.
However, we had a problem, they now knew where we were. So we had to move camp. We have about 10 tents full of supplies. So we loaded up our vehicles. Our heli flew off to safety while the remaining few took the vehicles into the darkest woods, with no lights and started to navigate in complete darkness through forests.
However, two of our vehicles ran out of fuel, so we hid them and all piled into one. In the end it wasn't the other survivors that got us, nor the zombies or the heli, it was the darkness. Our driver went wheel first into a lake and our car caught fire. We bailed but one of us wasn't so lucky. It blew up and he burst into flames. We were in the middle of no where, little supplies and in complete darkness.
I actually bought Arma II just to play the game. I've spent countless hours running around the zombie infested countryside looking for the incredibly rare military grade weapons. All of that time just so I can camp out on top of an airfield control tower at night with a couple flares lighting the runway just sitting, waiting to see a hostile bandit to take out or other survivors who are in need of help so they are not overwhelmed by zombies. It is astonishingly easy to play the game for hours on end without realizing how much time you've invested into the virtual world. The mod is very well done and it is easy to find yourself completely immersed in it.
Right now the game is in its alpha stages (if I'm not mistaken) and was EXTREMELY buggy when trying to get into a server and have your character spawn. This was about a month ago due to the fact that I've been very busy, so don't let me deter you from trying it out. If you don't own Arma II already I would say its worth buying just for the mod. There are constantly new updates coming out so I'm sure a lot of the bugs have been worked out.
