I searched, and there wasn't a thread, so I decided to make one to discuss the upcoming XBLA tps Hybrid.
For those who don't know, Hybrid is a game that features "combat-focused movement." Basically, you choose which piece of cover you want to move to, and your character moves towards that piece of cover. You can press a button to alternate which side of the cover you want to land on, which allows for quick movement away from somebody who is flanking you.
While in the air, you can maneuver using the left stick and aim in any direction with the right stick. If you want to get close to somebody, you can select the piece of cover they are on, then maneuver in the air to lessen the chances of them hitting you.
While on cover, you have full movement. You can quickly switch sides, move around, and aim freely. The entire process is very fluid and nice.
Another big tie-in for this game is its consistent online world war. Basically, when you first log on, you choose a side: paladin or variant. You then fight for that side for the entirety of that war. You fight for regions on the planet earth. When a lot of people are fighting for one region, that area becomes a hotzone and bonuses are given for fighting in that area. When all the regions are taken, the side with the most wins the war. You then choose which side you want to fight for in the new war, and the process repeats.
They had a beta earlier this year. I got to play. There were some connection issues that needed to get worked out, but besides that, I thought the game ran very fluid and nice. There was a ton of customization, which allowed for a ton of variety in strategies, even for the limited beta equipment I was given. Also, I felt the dynamic of the world war really helped push me to work harder in my matches, as it benefited my side as a whole.
If you like Gears of War's cover-based gameplay, then I bet you'll like this. In my honest opinion, videos on the internet don't do it enough justice. So, if anything I have said interests you, then I really recommend you download the trial when it comes out on August 8th.
