So, I have some desire to try my hand at a little Halo-themed short story involving custom Spartan II's. From what I've seen there was apparently a second class in 2536 so that leaves some wiggle room when it comes to creating Spartans. However, I have a question that I can't seem to answer my self, so I thought I'd throw it out to all of you.
That is, should the Spartans have custom armor color, like Noble Team has and various other Spartans have had, such as Daisy-023, Roland and Jonah (the latter being Spartan III's) or should they all be standard issue olive green? Obviously the colors add a bit to personality and helps each spartan stand out..but that breaks the illusion of a uniform fighting force.
In the books, they all had olive green armor. I think in Halo Reach what they should have done was that Spartan II soldiers should have gone back to Reach in the Pillar of Autumn like in the books, and the Spartans all wear Mk 5 armor. They defend key locations, including the Super MAC battaries, and Master Chief has to destroy the Nav Data for Earth on that space station. In the end they are overwelmed, and Master Chief escapes on the Pillar of Autumn.
