I've downloaded 6 books to date through Audible.com since I signed up thanks to the shameless plugs on the podcast (yo, Gus...earn a paycheck, bro.) Two of the books I downloaded were the Day By Day Armageddon series by J.L Bourne. They are fantastic.
I am a fan of the Zombie Apocalypse, but really, who here isn't? These books follow the written account of an Air Force officer, and tells the story as journal entries. It is a very well written series, by an active duty military man. He gets his terminology right and he's an excellent story teller. I'm not going to go into great detail here, it would spoil the book. Just go out and buy them.
I like where it's heading for the third book, which is coming out in December. But I do get what you mean...it is a bit slower. I chalk it up to the fact that it's always hard to follow up the first book in a series because the first is full of discovery. the second has to rely on the familiar.
So, I finally finished the third one. I was disappointed. I don't like the fact that the character now has a moniker, and I'm not a huge fan of the switch out of first person narrative. I'm also a little befuddled over the story arc in and of itself. 1 and 2 stand on their own. Out of 5 stars, this is how I would rate them:
DBD1: 4.5 DBD2: 3.5 DBD3: 3.0
I am a huge fan of the idea behind this series, the set treatment that J.L Bourne has created captivates me, but we really should have never left Hotel 23.
