I'm sure someone has made a similar post already, but I couldn't find it. I'm just curious as to which ending everyone chose and why. Synthesis, Control, Destroy, or Refusal. I had an extremely hard time deciding. I was kind of half and half on Destroy. It would be forcing me to wipe out the Geth and one of my favorite characters in ME3, EDI, but it would bring an permanent end to the Reapers. I then eliminated that because the Reapers were just the tools of the Catalyst not a real enemy. I was torn between Control and Synth. I finally chose Synthesis. Synthesis just seemed like it had the greatest possibility of true peace. With Control, I felt like I'd be keeping the peace with threats of the Reapers.
So now that I'm done ranting, what did everyone chose and why?
And just to get it out of the way, yes I realize that a lot of people were unsatisfied with the ending. I'm not asking if you liked the ending, just which you chose.
I personally chose synthesis. In my play throughs my personal goal was to keep everyone alive, I know that sounds hypocritical of me sence i am killing mercs, Geth and the like. But I thought it was the best choice and by far the best ending for the game.
This is how I broke down all of the endings in my head:
Control: Still be "alive", but lose contact with everything and everyone you fought so hard to fight for, so I crossed that out.
Synthesis: Turning everyone into machine/organic hybrids didn't sit well with me, so I crossed that out quickly.
Destroy: Reapers are destroyed permanently, all synthetics destroyed and Shepard dies but remaining technology left repairable in time; both of those I could live with.
I doubt anyone chose the "Refusal" ending on purpose. After I downloaded the Extended Cut and was making my decision I decided to shoot the StarBrat one last time for shits and giggles. Practically made me jump out of my seat to hit the guide button and restart my console.
That last part made me laugh. That's certainly a surprising way to find out about the fourth ending. I do doubt that anyone putting that much time into the game would ever purposely pick Refusal, but I'm sure some people have.
I chose Destroy the first time around because it felt like the logical choice. Control and Synthesis just sounded kinda iffy. After the Extended Cut Destroy is still my favorite, but I have to admit I really liked the Refusal ending dialogue if you actually choose it instead of shooting the Starkid.
"I fight for freedom, mine and everyone's. I fight for the right to choose our own fate. And if I die, I'll die knowing that I did everything I could to stop you. And I'll die free."
I chose the destroy ending, Mainly because, like many of you say, I didn't want to have gone through the whole journey and then have the reapers alive by the end.
A time after I finished the game I started to wondering if Synthesis maybe would have been better. But then I looked into it more and it seems that the Synthesis ending is what the reapers wanted you to chose, Indoctrination theory and all that.
