Sharing hotel rooms/ Travel expensesFigured I'd start the topic for people to share hotels and travel. I'm willing to share a room with some other attendees

Thanks to arcys: I've posted up a Hotel Share spreadsheet to keep track of who has what available. The idea is that those offering a space will keep the sheet up to date. If all the spots in your room are taken, please mark it full. This way others can easily see what's open and what's not.

Here's the link to the sheet: docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AiunwRY7...

1 MORE WEEK.. and some days.. but still WOO!

Things aren't set in stone yet, but assuming I end up having to get a hotel room it will be room for 5 total. One spot is already taken besides myself and both beds claimed leaving 3 spots open each person paying 1/5th the overall cost of room and internet.

I have booked myself into the Firehouse youth hostel. 21 per night in their 8 bed mixed dorm. It would be ace to habe some other RT fans there! The hostel isn't far from the convention centre, and as previously stated i will cook for people (saves having to buy meals out!)

I did a quick check and it would be about $200 cheaper to drive. However, its also a whole day driving nonstop. Still deciding if its worth it.

its about 20 hours of driving.. so take in consideration any food you eat as well on top of the 20 hours of boredom if you end up going alone lol

Any Irish people traveling, hit me up! I'm trying to get a decent priced hotel sorted as soon as possible considering it costs a grand to get there.

Depends on the hotel.

Some general guidelines I consider when offering up a room:
1) Don't overpack a room. Hotels may, but most likely will kick everybody out of a room if you have more than 4 people in it. Plus it makes the hotel less likely to give group rates for people at RTX. Wheton's Law applies. DON'T BE A DICK
2) I break down pricing like this: People in beds split 60-75% of the total cost of a room. People on the floor split the remainder. It's up to you to decide who pays what.
3) Be upfront about your expectations. If you don't like people snoring. SAY SO. If you only want early risers. SAY SO. If you hate drunk people coming back to the room at 5AM. GO OUT DRINKING WITH THEM OR SAY SO.

If anyone in SC, GA, AL, MS, LA or eastern TX needs a ride to RTX I don't mind picking up but I'm planning on being in Austin on the 4th. i already have 1 person riding so i could pick up 2 more comfortably.
