I don't know man a couple weekends ago I tried skiing for the first time. It's a lot easier than snowboarding, but it's still really really fun. I snowboarded mostly though just because I've had much more experience with it.
dad made me learn to ski before i could learn snowboarding so ive done 5 years skiing and about 5 boarding, my dp is one of me in japan which i would have to say is one of the best places for snow in the world :)
skiing is fun but id have to say that boarding is a lot more fun :P also you have more manuverability when you are going through the trees off the sides of slopes as you can just angle your board down the opposite way to change directions whereas skiiers have to do a 180,
hopefully next year ill be doing a jumping cource :D
Yes because you climb up a 10,000 meter mountain and drop off cliff after cliff on a skateboard. Have you ever snowboarded? It may bee easier to ollie but having the board strapped to your feet makes it much harder to ride. learning to actually get up on the board and stay up, on a snowboard, is twice as hard as it was for me to learn how to ollie on a skateboard. I hate people who feel the need to talk about something they have no experience with.
Like VanWinkle said, Skiing is not the same as snowboarding. It's like comparing apples and oranges. And skateboarding would be kiwis. The only similarities is that they are are sports just as apples, oranges and kiwis are all fruits.
In reply to NorCalStoner, #342: Wow, you don't know how to fucking read. I said snowboarding was more difficult for me to learn than skateboarding was. Shit, at least with a skateboard you can stand on it and ride it around before you learn how to ollie. Most of learning to snowboard is just getting up, and staying up on the damn thing.
Lol what a dumbass. Duh of course snowboarding isn't hard after you've done it for x amount of years. Punkass pricks that don't even understand what they read...
Hopefully this don't get me neg modded, but I spent 13 years boarding, and I love boarding, I used to bash skiing left and right... so I went skiing at the begginning of this year just for the hell of it... damn... I LOVE SKIING. It has nowhere near the style of snowboarding, but shit, I think I'm gonna have to do both from now on.... fuck up, eh?
From what I've been told by a lot of people who have crossed over from skiing to snowboarding is that skiing is harder. Though me personally I couldn't tell you I just wanted to rip into some snowboarders cause their so sensitive. Most winter sports rule sorry to all you snowboarder us skiers accept you really.
Maybe I'm natirally gifted at skiing and really handicapped at boarding cause EVERYONE says skiing is harder, but after two runs my first time skiing I was basically good to go, from black diamonds to huge air, the only thing I was sketchy about was the moguls.
Oops, hand't meant to post yet. For boarding, it was a full day of hell before I got it down... and even 13 years later if I catch air UI'm catching an edge after landing and bailing... and FUCK t-bars.
Definately: Fuck T-bars. I find boarding more difficult than skiing also. I learned to ski when I was nine and learned it really fast. With boarding I had much difficulty my first few times and eventually got good enough to start getting tricky.
Okay, I'm going to change the subject because people with no real opinions are just trying to piss off people who actually care.
Where is your favorite places to snowboard? Most of my experience is in the Alps of Austria and south Germany. I love it there. You have year round snowboarding and mountains so big that you can always find an area that is secluded and you only have to worry about tree, instead of other people getting in your way.
Actually I've got one for snowboarders bardonecchia in Italy. It's where the half pipe for the olympics was, good resort. I recommend going from DEC-Feb for some good snow. I went in march and it was icey in the morning and slushy in the afternoon my fault for being cheap and lazy. SORRY I LEAVE YOU BE NOW, PEACE OUT DUDES
since i live in the US, i haven't boarded out of the country before, but i think the best is UTAH. Great snow, but too many people, so skiers and boarders cut you off. But im planning on boarding on a glacier in New Zealand
Salt Lake City is the best place to go in north america. A major city within like an hour of like 15 of the worlds best resorts? Just cant beat that. But yea i want to go to New Zealand
I am in the same boat as you I love to snowboard but I live in Florida down in the damn south. I only get to go for a week or so a year for the past 5 years. And I am in collage this year so I don¡¦t think will go this year at allƒ¼. Why can¡¦t Disney build a indoor ski hill in Orlando they have one in Dubai and that¡¦s in the middle east
