I don't know about the one you're asking about, but I have a Creative Movo2 4 Gb and the sound is awesome! Of course, I bought it for the 4 Gb Hitachi Microdrive that you can reformat and use in a digital camera. The drive cost 450 dollars when it came out, and this MP3 player (with that drive) cost 250 bucks. You get the player and you got a microdrive that cost almost twice as much in the deal!!
I would say that if you truely wanted to find out, go to Best Buy (if they have those) and see if you can demo one. But, I have been extremely happy with mine, as I use it to listen to music while I mow my lawn and even over the mower I really don't have any distortion or anything like that. The Muvo2 has the same noise to signal ratio the same as those really expensive Klipsh speakers (which I think is 2%). Not that shabby!
I am PC all the way so I cringe at thinking of buying an overpriced piece of fruit. But I have had an intolerable experience with Creative Labs- if anyone has the misfortune of owning the greatest sound card on the market (the audigy 2) you know what I mean- the fricker just stops working for no reason. oh yeah dell installed it so don't blame it on me and i have the newest driver and every patch they threw at me. Other creative products have also cause pains- I've fixed two friends' systems by simply tearing the thing out. anyway I am now done venting- the Zen may be a perfectly good player but don't get a creative sound card
and only buy the apple if you've already gone to the dark side and bought system
my friend had a zen 20 gig that he got last christmas and it fried on him about 3 months later. I dunno about sound quality, but the zen was bulky and fragile, he dropped it once and the battery fell out. Also the button setup seems counter intuitive; i found the little toggle switch used to scroll and select songs tough to use. But i think battery life on the zen is good, not sure on how long, plus you're getting more storage space for less.
