The Notebook. Chick flick, and sure to at least get your eyes watering, if not full out balling your head off. No seriously, I heard people crying, loudly at that, in the theatres when I saw it. Hah, even my ex was crying a little bit, but she was embarassed so she kept trying to stop.

Yeah, that's a good point. Especially when he says something like "I try to live my life so that I am worthy" or something like that.

magnolia is depressing, but... i dunno. offputting things happen which kind of ruin the whole depressed-ness.

I am Sam was sad because it was the worst performance by Sean Penn that I've ever seen. And he's done some stinkers.

But I would say the saddest film would be Titanic, because it made me want to cry.

From hatred.

I thought Memento was sad. I know you may be thinking "WTF?" But if you just watch it closely, you can see there is a layer of melancholy in the movie.

Another "WTF? How is that sad?" movie is Donnie Darko. Don't ask, it was just dark and sad.

Seven was sad as well. But I can't say why without spoiling anything.

The United States of Leland. Great movie, but the whole movie has this very subtle depression feeling to it.

Finding Neverland. I was surprised, thought the whole thing would be a bit more lighthearted. Quite good, but sad.

That post, and the lack intelligence in that post, made me cry my fucking eyes out. So incredibly sad. I pray for the future. But I have no faith in the current generation. So I cry even harder.

Yeah, "What Dreams May Come" definately is the first film I think of when you mention something sad.

I actually just got home from seeing "Garden State", which extracted a tear from me but was ultimately pretty upbeat at the end and had a fair few laughs interspersed with it.

"Gallipoli" is one that would probably leave you feeling more frustrated than sad, depending on your point of view. I certainly find it UPSETTING to say the least.

But I have to rate as the sadest film I've seen thus far - "The English Patient". When he comes out of that cave... damn, pass the tissues.
