The Notebook. Chick flick, and sure to at least get your eyes watering, if not full out balling your head off. No seriously, I heard people crying, loudly at that, in the theatres when I saw it. Hah, even my ex was crying a little bit, but she was embarassed so she kept trying to stop.
Saving Private Ryan, only movie that made me shed a tear, that prart in the begining where they visit the grave and then after when the movie goes back to the grave.
it starred some dude from trainspotting and the full monty and a chick i have no idea about... anyway.... this guy lives his entire life alone.. then he finds the love of his life... then, he finds out he's dying of a brain tumor....so what does he do? he asks her to leave him... so she wont have to see him suffer. because HE LOVES HER ! i'm crying right now.....zzzz my keyboard is zzzshorting out from my tearsZzzzzzz pop
I thought Memento was sad. I know you may be thinking "WTF?" But if you just watch it closely, you can see there is a layer of melancholy in the movie.
Another "WTF? How is that sad?" movie is Donnie Darko. Don't ask, it was just dark and sad.
Seven was sad as well. But I can't say why without spoiling anything.
The United States of Leland. Great movie, but the whole movie has this very subtle depression feeling to it.

yea, it was pretty sad that he is just going to continue the same pattern over and over again... no life outside of his little bubble.
i cried my ass off in that movie BATTERIES NOT INCLUDED? when that one robot was smashed or something? oh god. that tore me up. it's mom was sitting there nudging it... trying to get it to move... it wouldn't...
In reply to captainjackz, #24: green mile... thats a good one... nearly made me cry... and thats really really hard... i am one of those people that start laughing in the soapie parts in movies... in The Matrix, when Trinity FINALLY F***ING DIES!! i was laughing for the first five minutes, and then i started saying... BOOOOOOOOOARING!! for the next five minutes... then she FINALLY F***ING DIED!!! YAYA... SHE WAS BECOMING FAT!! did anyone knotice that, she was getting a bit chubbo... no offence to anyone on the board...
another sad one... Neon Genisis, end of envangalion... EVERYONE DIES!!!
That post, and the lack intelligence in that post, made me cry my fucking eyes out. So incredibly sad. I pray for the future. But I have no faith in the current generation. So I cry even harder.
Yeah, "What Dreams May Come" definately is the first film I think of when you mention something sad.
I actually just got home from seeing "Garden State", which extracted a tear from me but was ultimately pretty upbeat at the end and had a fair few laughs interspersed with it.
"Gallipoli" is one that would probably leave you feeling more frustrated than sad, depending on your point of view. I certainly find it UPSETTING to say the least.
But I have to rate as the sadest film I've seen thus far - "The English Patient". When he comes out of that cave... damn, pass the tissues.
