Lotsa tech powerSo in my job, among other things, I'll help folks migrate from their computers to newer models. Over the past 4 years or so folks would give me their older Mac since they didn't need it anymore or I offered to take it for parts or I lied and said I knew a school that could use it (no schools really use such old Macs - they typically find old equipment to be just as much of a headache to support as the regular folks out there) just for this very purpose - to hoard up all these machines. Sometimes I did indeed use them for parts, but most of these units are untouched.
They've been scattered all around my basement, much to Frieda's chagrin, so I finally gathered them all and figured I'd just stack them up. The way these G4s were built, they're not really meant to be stacked, but if you lay them just right they'll hold together. 
Now some of them work, but most of them are in a state of disrepair. So once I'm finished with the basement-cleanup project I got to setup a desk next to this wall and with a keyboard/mouse/monitor go through each of these and figure out exactly which are good and which are beyond dead. Believe it or not for such old machines they are really pretty good workhorses. If I had the inclination I could see using about 4-5 of them for different services: FTP, firewall, VPN, file sharing (AFP), DVD and CD ripping, maybe even video streaming throughout the house. We'll see.
And yah, I've been sticking with Macs lately; I've been moving further and further away from PCs, esp. when Vista hit.
p.s. Consider that when these units were new they cost around $2k and upwards... let's just settle at $2k. We're talking a wall of $44,000 in computer equipment. Mama mia!
