Last Week's Report Well if anybody read my journal you'd know I turned 21 on Sunday. I can say it honestly wasn't all that bad. I woke up at the crack of dawn as has become all too common for my taste and got on the comp for a few hours. No body I really felt like talking to was on though so it did me no good. I got off and started reading the book that I was a the time. (Kushiel's Justice, book five of six and I might make a journal about that, very good books. XD) Well after about two hours I hear my mom and bro talking in the room and figure it's present time soon. Sure enough it was.
My brother comes out and hands me a card. While I'm eating a huge deli style san-mich I made myself three minutes before and my hands are covered in deliciousnessities. So I devour said bread and meat monstrosity and wash my hands to recive the card. All the while he's got a box behind his back that is supposed to be hidden and which I spotted as he entered the room. He denied all knowledge of course until I'd read the card. It was a nice card, made me smile.
So I tear open the the wrapping and it's a box for a fan we bought some weeks ago. No big f\deal my mom likes to do that. I open the lid and it's full of that easter grass we still had in much to great supply from that time. There's a not that says. "To the brooding boy. From: The suffering masses." And I'll admit I brood...it made me smile to, which I didn't want to do. Anyway inside the box there was a plaster paper weight in the form of a sad, bored looking Gargoyal. Which I looked askance at. Apparently it is supposed to be a contemplation idol. Meh, I'm keeping next to my monitor along with my Shūhei Hisagi mini figurine I picked up for four bucks a few months back. (Note I tried to take a photo but I can't get it uploaded so meh.)
After that more gifts were brought out. I'll not go into such details but I ended up with three games I've been wanting since god knows when. Advent rising which I popped in seconds after opening. Then out came Fable and Pariah. I've gotten to play them all and they are pretty darn cool. I of course got my knife, which was never wrapped and there were a couple baskets of candy. I spent the entire day playing games till I had a crushing headache and went to bed early.
Monday: I stayed home and played Fable and Pariah more. Nothing of interest really happened.
Tuesday.: Worked...really don't care for the details.
Wednesday: Worked again. When I'd got my for work the day before the dispatcher asked if I wanted to go flagging. I said sure. for those that don't know Flagging is those guys you see standing out in the middle of the road when they are doing road construction. The ones with the Stop/Slow signs. I of course agreed, at least it would mean I didn't have to wait for work. But I still had to get there at 5:30am. Cause the job was in Aberdean, which is 45 miles out of town. I manged this well, only because I was the only one going. My brother had gotten sick so I didn't have to wait an extra hour for him to get his ass in gear.
Of course despite the fact that my group was the first to leave we were the last to get there. The driver happened to miss a single critical turn. He of course did not notice this until he'd gone 15 miles down the road. I did no notice this cause cause he'd gone on Monday and was supposed to know the way....and I was reading Kusheil's Mercy(Six of Six.) and not paying attention anyway. the two guys in the back didn't notice this because they were asleep. Anyway after 30 miles of needless travel we were back on route and it wasn't long before we got to where we needed to be, half an hour late. Not that it mattered
Once on the job site it wasn't that bad. Sure it was warm even early. About 93 at 9am. but we got to stick to the shade and do anything we wanted cause they did not need us yet. This included me doing a great deal of keeping away from everyone else and reading a book while they smoked and talked about god knows what. Playing foot ball with a pine cone till my had started to bled from all the wimpy little cuts I received and doing a great deal more reading. All the while wondering when we were going to do something...turns out it was never. After waiting five and a half hours and getting paid all the while we are informed that the street paver had broken down and we weren't needed till tomorrow. So we went home.
Going home consisted of waiting for mom o pick me up for over an hour after getting back to Labor ready. Then running errends around town till 8:30pm....Then going home and sleeping.
Thursday: Armed with the knowledge from the day before I was up just as early though not quite as bright eyed. We got to the place we needed to be without any problems this time and right on time(7:30). Which as it turns out was a half hour before our bosses did. So we actually got there at 7:00. >_> <_<; It was much the same thing as before. Everybody hanging out and talking. About sports of course...Basketball, which I couldn't know less about. So after hanging out in the shade and gagging on the second hand smoke of pot and ciggarettes for two and a half hours we all got rounded up and tossed out of the truck to where we were supposed to be working for the day.
Luckily I'd brought a chair. It was lovely I had plenty of shade, I had my book, I had piece and quiet. That was fun for the first two hours. But I hadn't slept well the night before so I was tired...there wasn't shit going on and hardly any cars going by. So I took of my hardhat, closed my book and laid my head back. About after five minutes when I was just about to to fall under, that point where you're still awake but not quite this sherrif comes by and gets on her bull horn and screams into it "WAKE UP!!" So my head snaps up and she drives off rather faster than needs must. I glared sleepily after her. The guy half a mile up the road told me he'd heard it when I told everybody about it at the end of the day.
