well, its like this, i'm writing this fic "free to kill" and in it, later on anyways XD, i introduce the AI Tau, or Tanner, i have been talking to one of my friends about him and now i have a thousand ideas of what i should do with him, so here's my question, should i write multiple fics using Tanner like multiple realities or just stick to one version?
Totally your choice, Doll. If I get multiple views on a character for a fan-fic, I will generally write more than one about them (ie. South as a b***h, South as a b***h with a heart of... bronze?). On an original work, you kinda have to choose one and stick with it.
I suggest this; if you're writing fanfic for the sake of fanfic, feel free to make as many AUs as you want. If you're writing fanfic to practice story writing (perhaps hoping to be a published author) then pick one, because that's what you'll have to do.
For my stories, I just have the basic idea in my mind to start with, and the little things that give it life (meaning the details) just work their way in as I go.
So, yeah, it sort of does take on a life of its own, but that's what makes it fun! :)
To come up with my stuff I autowrite. Grab my ipod, grab notebook and grab my favourite tree and just let my pen go, don't stop moving. At the end of it I feel relaxed and I can usually pluck some ideas from the nonsense :)
i'm playing TOR right now, and it helped me get out of the largest writers block i had in years. it also helped me with character development, so i think do whats best for you? right?
It definitely does. I had an ending all figured out for an original work of mine, and it kinda changed completely and continued on for another 100 pages.
In my fanfic, my ideas are shifting constantly... which can be very amusing :)
To help me write, I made myself a little oath -I will write 250words a day at least, even if I have to beat them out. Even if it's crap, it's there, and sometimes it can be pretty good... or just have one little diamond in the rough.
I have some ideas on a fanfic but I'm a horrible writer and when I write my ideas don't translate well on to paper. What should I do because I really do want to write rvb fanfic?
what you can do is write everything down as it comes to you, like notes, then put them all together. before you post, find a beta reader to help you out. a good Beta reader makes the difference between a good fic, and a great fic.
Could it be bad of me to ask if anyone can beta my first chapter? I just want someone else's opinions because none of my friends know about RvB and they think i'm crazy for writing it.
no, infact its a great idea. but i think you should find someone who's work you really love, who has less mistakes then you, and ask them to beta. and email them the fic so they could beta it =3
If you want to be a good writer, read every fanfic you can get your hands on. It'll give you inspiration, strengthen your vocabulary and if you review as well you'll meet lots of new mates with the same interest!

I always suggest that before you start a fic, know where it ends because otherwise you'll write yourself into a dead end. Happened with my first RvBFic and there was five thousand words down the toilet. Your plot is the drive of your story, what is Ken searching for, what does he want to achieve? .
A story can basically be broken down to your protagonist, antagonistic force and the setting. You have your protagonist (Ken) and the setting (Post Season 9) so find your antagonistic force for Penn to fight. The antagonistic force is the most important part because a hero is only as good as their villain. Most antagonistic forces can be simplified as 'The Seven Plots of Literature. Try reading this, it might help you with direction!
