From a recent post by @lozelda
It seems to come up in waves. This is not a new topic for the RT Community, and it's not a new topic for me. Somehow we have to keep circling back to it, and somehow it seems to be a little bit worse every time.
The harassment has to stop.
There have been a number of journals from various members of the community over the last 2 weeks on this, from those who have been harassed and from those who have witnessed it or seen the aftermath it causes. This is something that strikes me in a personal way, and to say I have "strong feelings" on it is an understatement. However, only so much can be said with a monologue. With the frequency at which community members are being driven away from the site, a speech is only so effective.
At this stage, a conversation is much more useful. So that's what we're going to do.
Myself, @SailorTweek, @Newbs, @GB330033, and @desayjin will be sitting down to talk about the RT community and how this issue is plaguing it, and we invite you to be a part of the discussion. We will be streaming the call, and will be keeping an active eye on the chat to address any comments from the community. If you have any comments or stories of your own that you would like to share with us ahead of time for the purposes of the conversation, please let one of us know!
The stream will be at 7PM EST on Tuesday, October 7 here. I will be posting the link again both here and on Twitter when it goes live. This is something that is important to us as a community, and the more of us that can be a part of the discussion on what needs to change, the faster we can make that change happen and make the community a better place for everyone.
Join us in this important discussion. Our community is one of the most incredible, giving, hard working, and creative in existence. Let's strive to make it one of the safest.
