Yes, the price tag on my copy of Assassin's Creed says "asscreeps3", which sounds like a totally different game.

The first Assassin's Creed is repetitive as fuck. A collection of excellent concepts bogged down by absolute monotony and shitty enemy AI.

Here's how you play AC1:

1. Ride on your horse (hold the sprint buttons on a horse) for 10 minutes to a new zone of the game
2. In the new zone, climb a tower (hold sprint and forward for 5 minutes) to update your map of this new area
3. Eavesdrop (go to a bench and press "Listen") some guards talking about how careless they are about their job

Here's how you play AC1:

1. Ride on your horse (hold the sprint buttons on a horse) for 10 minutes to a new zone of the game
2. In the new zone, climb a tower (hold sprint and forward for 5 minutes) to update your map of this new area
3. Eavesdrop (go to a bench and press "Listen") some guards talking about how careless they are about their job
4. Pickpocket (lock-on and press "Pickpocket") an important letter from a merchant which tells you about a secret meeting with your target
5. Go to the Assassin boss-man for that area, talk to him and he'll give you a feather
6. Go kill your target in the loudest way possible (keep pressing "Attack" until you win) because you actually have your sword equipped this whole time
7. Run away (hold sprint and forward and maybe sometimes move the camera around to turn) and return to the Assassin boss-man and finish the mission

Repeat. If you feel to break up the monotony, you can play other side missions like "Save the Citizen" where you go to the same looking citizens being bullied by the same guards and spam counters to instant-kill the guards. Or you can climb more towers to update your map!
