Milestone in LifeI haven't written a journal in so long!! I hope everyone here on RVB is doing well!
Anyways, so I finally reached a milestone most North American's eventually reach in their lives: I bought a car. It is a 2010 Toyota Corolla. It's an interesting experience in that it can teach you many things. It taught me that sales people are ruthless bustards that show the illusion that they give a crap about you as a person. When they see you all they see is Spiff/bonus/co
mmiss
ion!! I should have known this...I used to be one for The Source. When I left the dealership I was a bit disgusted at how this car was sold to me. My dad phrased it perfectly by saying it felt like I was being trapped.
I should really stop dwelling on this decision and focus on the positive. I finally have a car that will give me so much more flexibility in that I don’t have to take a bus to travel distances greater than 5K. Although this will affect my monthly cash flow greatly I should stay positive! I can finally try the things I’ve always wanted to try. This would include taking yoga classes, joining a running group with the Running Room, go to the gym, and learn how to swim. Overall this was a great experience and now I know what to expect for my next car purchase, which will hopefully not be within the next 25 years. I want to run this Corolla for all she’s got!
One lesson I learned is that you always have a choice! You can always walk out the door and take your money elsewhere. Also, be sure not to sign and/or initial anything. You may legally bind yourself to a contract.
Thanks for reading my journal and I hope to hear from you guys soon!
Jonathan
PS. If any of you want to know a couple of the lessons I learned through this experience, let me know through a comment and I can post a couple of this. I can even send you a spreadsheet of how I broke down how the monthly payments are going to work out.
