I'd like to take the time now to tell you that I am not going to be playing for WaMC next season. I could say it was only because we had a terrible record this season, or that I felt like i was the only good member on the team, but that isn't all of it. A major reason I am leaving is because of you. The way you treated the menz situation was simply terrible. You were calling for a man's head for a simple article he had written. This was a person that did everything he could to benefit the league, and because he did something that you thought was unacceptable for an admin, you asked for his resignation. Because of you and people like you, this community has lost it's best leader. I hope you are happy with this turn of events, but I hope you realize that you have caused a major setback for the Grifball community, simply because you and a few other people cannot take a joke. Menz was legitimately sorry for what he did, but that wasn't good enough for you. I'd like to think that I can get along with anybody, and I've been getting along with you ever since I started playing Grifball. I was even ok after you called out menz for simply voicing his opinion on a situation that was not started by him. No one will do as good of job as menz in any of his previous roles. I am going to vote for him next season to return to his job, as I am sure many other people will do. I am glad that people are leaving Grifball after this season. If they cannot take a joke, or if they get that easily offended, they don't belong here. In the irc menz made a joke about my girlfriend having a bulge in her pants, and even saved it as a quote. You know what I did? I laughed about it. Maybe you should try not taking things so seriously, especially the politics of an online videogame. Don't get me wrong, I care about Grifball more than you probably know, but I know when things are right, and when they are wrong. In helping get menz removed from his position, you have done something very wrong. If you want me to play the last game against GBK, I would love to. You guys are great teammates, but somethings cannot be overlooked, and your attitude in this situation is one of those things. I wish you and the rest of team the best of luck without me. I hope you will keep me on your RT and Xbox Live friends list, as other than this, I have no hard feelings against you.
The "SI has too much power!" thing was always a joke, IMO, just like the "The Hub has too much power!" claim is now. Is it the Hub's fault (or SI's fault) that they have so many people who are so dedicated to Grifball and the community?
Yes, it is. Every season we have internal issues regarding how much power we hold on our team, and every season we consider having either me or Menze quit the team. While we might not think it matters because we came from different places into power, through different contacts, and because we disagree very frequently, it's not a good thing, and the logic holding it together is weak at best.
The HUB holds together as a "powerful" entity because the positions it holds are largely unrelated to control of the league as a whole. Bobby is as close as you get currently to a position of real league power, and he's not making the day to day decisions that an admin does. However, when something like this is brought up and the usually relatively powerless group of people become extremely powerful, and determine the fate of the largest current Grifball league, it's the group's responsibility to avoid their collective power and return it either to the person who is giving it (Caleb) or the people that elected them into their respective positions (the community), because they were never chosen for a task such as the one presented.
It's the responsibility of those in power to ensure that they are not overstepping their rightful bounds, even if it means breaking up a group or separating roles to the point that there is conglomerated effect of their opinions, and denying their power when put into a situation in which there is such an effect, or even the appearance of such an effect. Both our groups have to remember that.
I saw your recruitment ad for grifball. I classify as defense. I can run a bit and I do fairly decent at tanking. I actually end up being a tank magnet because the best tanks on the opposing team always seem to focus on me. Plus I enjoy picking on Highlnd and Dragon. If you need a player let me know.
Kal, please stop posting in the "Don't Do This" thread about my lack of "mental stability." I'm sure the confrontation between SuperGollum and I disturbed you, and my method of responding was less then acceptable to say the least. However, there are several, if not many, background stories and untold occurrences involved in the incident that most people, including yourself, on RT don't even know about.
I have openly admitted that I was wrong about the messages, and expressed regret for sending them, and while I do not hope to continue to play in the grifball league, I would still like to play with people in the league in custom and matchmaking games.
Also, even though it may have offended you, the situation really doesn't have anything to do with you, and the mods have made it too public as it is.
