I love SciFi but found this to be less SciFi and more Drama. I love both genres of those movies and think the two can be combined. I really expected more SciFi with it since they kept saying it was going to change the way you look at alien movies.
I think I heard that comment and just didn't pay any attention to it.
It sounds like you would have enjoy the movie more if you weren't expecting so much.
I just thought it was way over-hyped. You could have replaced the Prawns with any mistreated race or species and had the same movie really. Adding the Aliens was supposed to boost it up and it really didn't accomplish that in the social aspect of the movie.
You could say something like that about any movie.
But since I like sci fi, I like that they did it in a sci fi way.
There were lots of things in the movie that reminded me of other movies, but I think they were introduced in this movie with me thinking "oh that's like..." rather than "not that again".

Also, having "unknown" actors added to the feel. I felt like the story could have happened to anyone because the main actor just seemed like an average Joe. That also allowed for the story to go in any direction, since you didn't know who was going to die, though I was pretty certain of how the general story was going to go.
Probably because I really only liked the original series and sort of liked the last one.
the original series had a "chemistry" that could never be recreated. The movies with the original cast continued that, though the "odd numbered" movies didn't seem as good.
Yeah that thread doesn't take to new guys sometimes (we do get a lot of morons). I know you will fit in there once you get the feel for how that thread operates. It's more of a bar that has Stargate fans and sometimes we'll talk about Stargate in great detail and then randomly change the topic to waffles.
Merry Christmas from Monopoly_J
I hope the Holiday finds you doing well.
I just want to take this time to wish you a very Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas From Monopoly_J
I would say it differed quite a bit from the traditional story, but I think you could see how it was related.
A major difference is
1) I don't think this is a major spoiler, but the Sheriff of Nottingham is not a major bad guy.
2) people are not waiting for the return of King Richard.
3) Robin doesn't spend a lot of time taking for the rich and giving to the poor, though you might say it was implied
Minor differences are (and how minor is a matter of opinion)
1) Robin doesn't meet Little John trying to cross a river
2) Prince John isn't so much power hungry as stupid
3) Prince John is not involved in ...
Exactly!
I want to take this time to wish you a very MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Which comment?
Dang, I did it again.
Sorry monopoly_j, that was suppose to be a +1 zing
I've been busy...
I was actually just getting to that...
You should get on that.

You can add that in a News item now.

This movie has come the closest to that.
That is an out-right dirty lie!
There's a nasty rumor that it isn't Monopoly anymore.
Oh yeah, it was. I wasn't even thinking of your reference. Good Call!
Huh?

It will all make sense, just stick around.
Yeah me too!
You know me too well!
