Agreed that the old cartoon was awful and nothing more than a marketing tool for little girls' toys, but seriously, give it a shot. You liked Clone Wars, right? There are animators from that working on MLPFIM. There's a Trouble With Tribbles episode, there's an episode which basically is an expedited version of The Hobbit. If you don't give something a chance, you can't really say you hate it. It makes you sound like a grouchy old man.
dude...I dont like mlp...never have...never will. If my daughter wants to watch it, power to her, but I dont like them. I also wastn a fan of it back in the day, nor was I a fan of Powerpuff Girls, or Benny Hill.
Seriously, dude. Watch it with the fams. You have a little girl for crissakes and it was made by Lauren Faust, wife of Craig McCracken the creator of the Powerpuff Girls. You'll like it if you give it a chance. Hell, the third episode pulls a wonderful Benny Hill moment (albeit a Jimmy Paige version).

It would've been better to omit that last line about absolutes being wrong absolutely or just saying something to the effect of, "Pointless to you, maybe, but not to me. Whatever, let's move on." You stayed on it too long and the argument turned into something completely stupid and unnecessary. All parties were at fault.
