What if ...... ?What if you had a friend who had a real problem with an addiction/condition/self-destructive behaviour, and you were trying to help him through it so he could get better?
Let's say in the beginning this condition your friend has caused him to hurt someone you care a lot about. That's the reason you decided to help him out and let him get help for himself, instead of just villainizing him and beating the crap out of him. You know better than to judge people. You made sure he was taking the right steps to improve his condition and that he was on the right path to recovery. Things are going well.
Then, one year later, your friend fucks up. He was getting the help he needed, but the road to recovery is a long one, and he fucks up. His actions cause him to hurt that someone again. Conditions leading to this incident were imposed on him before he was ready, but he knows that does not justify a thing.
Now you realize one important thing.... the first time he fucked up, he was completely lost, helpless and was going in a downward spiral. This time he fucked up while trying to get better. So, does it really count as a *second offense* if he was on the road to recovery and stumbled and fell over on the way? Everyone has had to endure recovery from something in their lives during which they made mistakes and tripped along the way, right?
You know his intentions are good, and that he wants to get well. He doesn't want to hurt anyone, and knows he's done wrong.
You know this because you know him.
What would you do? Would you give him another chance? Would you let him continue in the recovery process, or would you give up on him? Think about this carefully before you answer.

Progress. As some of you know, I've been working on a top secret 3D project for some time now. However I haven't exactly been getting the time I'd like to work on it, so progress has been rather slow.
Having said that, recently I got some time to make some advancements, and I have to say I'm quite pleased with one of the things I've worked on: The Earth.
This is the old earth render I did the first time around (a few years ago):
The stars and note falling from space are the new versions, but the earth mapping is untouched from the first version which I did about.... 6 years ago I guess (the video I'm making now is a remake of that original animation). It pretty much looks hand-drawn.
Since then, I've worked on a new map and have been putting more effort into things like detail, reflection, etc., and this is what I've come up with so far:
In this version, the clouds are actually a separate map, so I have more control over it. Also the reflection and bump mapping only affect the water, making it look a lot better than its predecessor.
I still have to add a decent atmosphere and some volume to the clouds, but methinks it's coming along well
I still have a lot of extra freelance work to finish off, so this is probably the only advance I'll be making for a while. Also, I've pretty much disappeared off the face of the earth your journals and pics, but I still (yes, still) intend to make my best effort to get to them and at least read the important entries. There are hundreds of them by now, so we'll see what happens.
'Till next time, - Dunge nFreak

This is important.Genocide (yes, genocide) is being committed in Darfur.
So pay attention and read carefully.Dollars for Darfur is an inspiring program started by Nick Anderson & Ana Slavin, two high school students who got tired of waiting for others to change the world.
Dollars for Darfur is an innovative nation-wide fundraising competition between high schools to raise money to help stop the genocide in Darfur.
Half of the money raised funds humanitarian efforts for Darfuri refugees and the other half funds the advocacy efforts of the Save Darfur Coalition.
The goal is to raise $200,000 by April 21, 2007 to help the people of Darfur. The winning high school will be recognized nationally by the Save Darfur Coalition and receive a surprise prize, to be announced at that time.
Please help them reach this goal by spreading the word about Dollars for Darfur competition to any high school students you know and encouraging them to get involved.
It's a simple process. Students start by setting up a Dollars for Darfur page for their high schools, and then email their friends and family to let them know about their pages. Many students are also using their MySpace and Facebook networks to spread the word about this effort. All the info students need is available on the Dollars for Darfur web site.
So far 828 students from high schools across the country have already raised more than $26,000 towards their $200,000 goal.
Our hat is off to these students. We're truly impressed by their initiative and dedication.
We're not the only ones taking notice -- Nick and Ana recently appeared on the The Martha Stewart Show to discuss what high school students can do to end the genocide. Click here to watch a video clip of the segment on YouTube.
Please help Dollars for Darfur reach their goal by April 21st by spreading the word to any high school students in your family or community.
Students should visit the Dollars for Darfur web site to learn more about how they can get involved. So spread the word. If you want to post this message on your journal or elsewhere, I can send you a txt file with the links coded in so you won't have to re-do the work.

Troy HurtubiseThis was too cool not to post a journal about it. Troy Hurtubise is the inventor of the now famous bear suit, the Mark VI I believe, but he has now called more attention to himself with a new armour suit meant for military use. It looks amazingly like Master Chief's suit, and he says in the interview that he looked at Star Wars and Halo when designing it. Here's a link to the video.
If you look him up on wikipedia, you'll see a bunch of info on other stuff like the firepaste which can stand temperatures hotter than those felt by shuttles on re-entry, 1313 paste which can stand an incredible amount of blasts and impacts by slugs and explosions, the angel light which reportedly makes things transparent when it's shone on them, and the god light which reportedly has healing capabilities. Of course, this other stuff read about on wikipedia has no validity and hasn't been verified, but it's interesting to read about anyway.
However the armour suit, named The Trojan, is very real. And very cool.

Oh yeah.... also, he's canadian.

So long '06Well, another year has come and gone. Well, almost. I'm not letting this year go by without partying like it's the end of the year first. I'll be going down south about 100k to go party-hunting with my friend and some of her friends. We'll be back in Lima monday evening, and I probably won't be back here (RvB) until tuesday.
Who knows what will happen. Maybe nothing, maybe everything. Maybe somewhere in between. It's a world of possibilities. And as for the new year, I intend on making this one count. This will be a year of changes and improvements in a lot of areas of my life.
I hope you all have a great new year and that you have a great time ringing it in.
Catch ya on the flipside.

Christmas had come and gone........ and I still had my birthday journal up. Yeah.
*Fixt.*
Um, so what's new.... I'm really liking this girl I'm starting to go out with (first kiss on new year's?? That would be cool), and I'm, like, *this* close to starting up the 3d project again (remember the rocketship? Yeah, that one).
In other news, I've been having ups and downs with some issues of mine lately.... stuff with therapy, and with suicidal thoughts. But not in that order, so don't worry . Also, the suicidal thoughts were temporary, so no biggie. Some of you know what I'm talking about, others don't. In fact, most of you don't. If you're in the second group, I'm sorry but I'm not gonna tell you. Don't take it personally. You just wouldn't understand.
Also, I'm really sorry for having neglected so many of your journals. In fact, a good 99% of them. Most of my watch list is in the double digits, and that's just not right. I'm gonna work to get that down in january. Yeah, I will do my absolute best to go through it all, and I'm sorry if I missed big events. I'll comment in the important ones so you'll know I was at least there. The thing is, I've been way too busy to come in here often. The video edits I've been doing have also prevented me from advancing with the 3d project, so I'm going to do my best to fix both of those things in the coming weeks.
I hope everyone had a good christmas, and that most of you valued the people you were with more than the things you got (or didn't get). I hope that the new year will be much better for all of us, but also remember that it's up to each and every one of us to make those changes. Mmkay?
Also, here's something that just rocked my world when it came out....... looks pretty damn promising
So, I'm gonna jet. Hit me up on msn if you've got me on your list. I'm usually connected. Talk to you all later...
