Star Trek and 3DYay, just saw Star Trek into Darkness!!! What a great movie, story and the look was great, couldn't have asked for a better sequel to the last one. But the experience could have been better if the audio didn't break an hour in, meaning we got a good freeze screen of Simon Pegg pulling a face before the cinema pulled us all out and put us in a 3D showing which was 15 minutes behind. Many people may go "yay", I'd I'd agree with them if they were purely talking about the 3D depth quality, but the picture quality I found got worse. (It also doesn't help having glasses ontop of your own glasses) It was like watching something in HD go down to SD. One of the great things of the Star Trek movie was the detail of the entire film, at any point you could look at any part of the film and it looked fantastic but in 3D everything that the camera wasn't looking at was out of focus. This didn't help in the action sequences either when lights were flashing and the camera moving, the cameras couldn't focus directly on anything for long enough to show what was happening. Well apart from getting interrupted half way through "and having to watch 125% of the movie" I thoroughly enjoyed it, the guys a Bad Robot really know how to mix the new ideas with the old ones.
Movie TrailersWell this is sooner than I imagined. There are tons of great sci-fy films coming out that I now want to see, and now they've released the Enders Game Trailer! But in every trailer that has been released in the last few years they seem to have put the entire plot of the movie into the trailer, personally I don't want to see the ending of the film in the Trailer!!! Literally one of the last shots in Iron man 3 was in the trailer!! But I've veered off from what I meant Talk about, the Enders Game Movie trailer was released!! www.youtube.com/watch?v=vP0cUBi4hwE I cannot wait to see how they portray this great sci-fy book into (what looks like) a high budget Sci-Fy movie!!

Journal EntriesSo I've made a decision to take a more active social participation in the site. I've been here for just under a year and I've done very little activity on the social part on the site. So whether anyone reads this or not I'm going to attempt to write more Journals and on the forums. Whether I keep this up or not past today though is a complete mystery to me. :/
Now I am a big fan of Mass Effect 3 and I resently finished the story and I found the ending to be good "naratavly". But there are many things that Bioware did wrong that annoyed many people, me included.
First of all the ending gives you three options, destroy the reapers, control the reapers or synthesis organic life with synthetics. Which is better than ME and ME2 because they only gave you two options.
But from there on the quality drops, I heard on the podcast that it wraps up ME2 very well and that is well and done but it doesn't wrap up ME3. for example what happens to your sqaud mates who haver been fighting battles for you, did they die on Earth in the final assalt for the "portal" or did they all magicaly teleport to the Normandy as it for some reason sped away from the citadel before it activates?
From Mass Effect 1 they had the speech system which worked superbly throughout all three games, and then they desided to drop it all when you are having your talk with the catalyst which is when you want it the most to find out about the cycle to help your choose your desicion.
Now most people have put hours to days of gameplay into each of the games and they wanted to have at least a little bit of their choices from each of the games to effect on the ending, which they don't. So no matter what choices you make in all three games, as long as you get past the minimum mark on the Galaxy of War Map (which you can get through halfway through Mass Effect 3) the ending doesn't change.
So for the ending of Mass Effect 3 it is good cinimaticaly, but for those who want to have an effect on the ending it is utter crap.
Video Game Content CodesThis is a rant, I don't expect anyone to read it I just needed to get off my chest.
Why oh why oh why have video games gone down the perverted route of fate and desided that they should continue with using codes for extra content?! They have made gaming more tedious and fustrating for all console owners over the last few years. Now before this rant continues must issue that I understand why they do, for extra money/less second hand sales, and the ocational code for a demo or a single piece of downloadable if great. For example the Halo Reach Multiplayer demo code which came out a couple of years ago, or when a game sales company does a deal latter on in the games life. Most games now have only one or two codes which give you a 48 hour pass on gold and maybe a pre-order bonus. But now the game makers have started to go down the route of making the multiplayer component code relient, and I think we can all agree that Homefront was the first game to come up with this rediculous idea. Thank you very fucking much EA for bringing in a new system which makes you more money and disatisfies thousands of people world-wide. (This seems to be as clever as when DVD's put on unskipable adverts before the menu's pop up) This brings up another problem of Xbox/Profile specific codes. This is a problem which affects the majority of half of the gamers around the world. Most codes that are given are avalible to everyone on the Xbox/PS3, for example DLC codes. But more and more codes seem to be poping up which are Profile specific codes, so if two people buy one game, only one of them is allowed to play on this content which is most often the multiplayer access meaning that they will have to buy the code again seperatly if it is avalible. This tells me that the games are not giving full access of their games to the people who bought them fair and square! Game companies have also been going down a route lately of releasing collector/ultimate edition game content on codes rather than puting them onto a different disc or on the same disc (e.g. Fallout) which makes the point of buying the game's collectors edition box tedious and out of perspective. One of the reasons why people buy the bigger editions is for the content which they can use and not have only one person on the xbox able to play that content! People don't won't to spend the first half-hour to an hour of getting a game and putting codes in! Also on a last note which won't affect many gamers but some don't have Live/PSN just because they just don't feel that they need it and that they will play the campaigns of games. To download a code you need a Internet connection. Do you think that these people should be denied content that they will buy but cannot access now because of the "revolution" of codes?
So overall; Codes hate families and denies them content, Game companies make codes because they are to lasy to make anouther disc and want more money, Codes are destroying the multiplayer experience.
