Follow the White Rabbit...So I just watched The Matrix for the first time in years... First time watching it in HD(just got it on blu-ray), and the first time with an awesome home theater/surround system. I am seriously impressed. That has to be the only time I actually experienced the movie since I saw it in the theater when it came out thirteen years ago. o_o
I was really surprised at how good it looks. Other than a couple of little things that hint at its age, it holds up massively well. I continually found myself impressed with the directing and cinematography, something I was too young or ignorant to notice and appreciate in early viewings.
Having a huge subwoofer right behind my seat made most of the impacts and crashes actually feel real. At least to the extent that I heard, felt, and ultimately believed them. I'm kind of pissed that I can't really do that too often, with neighbors and stuff usually around or sleeping. I'll never understand people that are okay with watching stuff in sub-optimal conditions, and with distractions or interruptions. I always tend to get super involved with what I'm watching, unless it's just really bad, which is surprisingly rare.
Anyway... this experience was great. It firmly reminded me that this is definitely one of my favorite movies. So, if you haven't seen it in a while and get the chance to watch it on blu-ray with a loud surround system, you should do it.
Oh, and don't worry about the vase.
