Slipknot - All Hope Is GonePutting this in a journal because of the amount of haters around the music forums who just rate people down for just saying the word "Slipknot" and not really allowing anyone to like them or not, but still.

I got my copy of the special edition of All Hope Is Gone yesterday, and sat listening to it with my girlfriend. Honestly, it suprised both of us, because of the power and emotion in the songs. Mainly Corey Taylors vocals being so different to other Slipknot material. However, I do think that it is NOT similar to Stone Sour in the slightest. It still sounds alot different to me, and I like this direction Slipknot have decided to experiment in.

It has a pretty standard Slipknot intro song, kinda freaky, but still something you'd expect, with the first few songs, Gematria (The Killing Name) and Sulfur being on the heavier side of the album (although not as heavy as the title track, which I believe is the heaviest, close to This Cold Black) and slowly getting a stranger, more experimental feel for Slipknot, some songs having the familiar brutal music and drums, although at a slower pace, with less screaming, and more melodic singing. I think this is very interesting, although in some songs it does sound out of place at times, Vendetta and Butcher's Hook being examples of these songs.

It then slowly builds up again, and then surprisingly comes the mellow song of the album. Similar to Circle from Vol. 3., Snuff is a very calm and light song, but does build up in the end and I think it is a very powerful track. It then ends with the title track, All Hope Is Gone, which is truely an amazing song. Close to being their Heaviest song in my own opinion.

The 3 bonus tracks, Child of Burning Time, Vermilion Pt. 2 (Bloodstone Mix) and 'Til We Die that come with the special edition seem to be part of the "experimental" tracks. The first being a mix of the singing with the heavy riffs and drumming. The remix of Vermilion Pt. 2 has a much different feel to the original, and even has a similar ending to the first part of Vermilion. 'Til We Die is also in the softer vein of the album, and it seems a nice way to finish off the album.

So yeah, there's my little review and opinions of the album, I have to say, I'm still listening to it now, so I've not got favorite songs as of yet. Psychosocial and All Hope Is Gone both have strong points in my mind just now, only because I heard them long before the album was released, but the whole album is powerful and sticks in my mind as well. I'm not dissappointed in this album in the slightest, and I look forward to seeing them in December at the S.E.C.C.

Normal Entry.Ok, so I got phoned on Friday night, funnily enough, on the bus to my girlfriends house. So I'm not going to find out until this week if I get in the class or not, he said most likely Wednesday, which is the day the class starts, kinda short notice, but I know it's not his fault, so I can't exactly blame him.

I keep getting the feeling that I don't wanna go back, but I know that's probably just me being an idiot again, I'll be fine if I get in and back into a routine. Besides, alot of people I get on with are in my class, and I now know alot of people outside of the class that I get on with and like, so it's not going to be like last year, where I don't know anyone at least.
That and my old friends are starting, so that means he can drive us (Lol! Road trip!) there and back if we have similar class times.
We'll just have to see really. Could be later today, anytime tomorrow, or Wednesday morning before I hear anything though.

I did get my official SQA results in the mail though, just basically what I was shown earlier, so not really any surprise, but still glad it's fine.

I've been sitting waiting on the mail for about 2 hours already today. It's usually here around 11 and now it's 20 to 1. ¬___¬
Why is the mail always late when I'm waiting on it?
That and I missed my mum before she left, so I won't speak to anyone until later it seems.
I need to figure out something to focus on today, even though I'm half waiting on the mail, so music isn't as loud as I'd normally have it, and I'm listening out for the door. Basically not paying attention to anything else, haha.
Probably not the best idea, but at least I've already eaten. That would have been worse to forget.

Think I might play some Geometry Wars 2 and Bad Company soon.
Get my scores up and finish getting those damned Gold Bars, since I'm downloading free stuff. Sounds like a plan actually...
I could look on the Walkthroughs since there's only a couple left on like...3 maps. Then I could easily enough get the achievement for not dying in a level too...
Would finish up the single player Acheivements nicely, then I can just play Multiplayer without worrying about having to go back into the SP again.

We'll see.
