a little help from me friendsI am getting a domain name for my business. I wanted CBMFM.com, but that is taken (any of you got it?) so my other options are in the poll. please share why you vote the way you do, it'll help me make the final choose.
My first choice is .co, because it is closest to .com. My next choice would be .org because I like the idea of this being an organization first and a business second. I dont dig .us because of all the foreign Family.

The First ConThe North Florida Comic Con has come and gone. It was my first experience as a dealer. Financially, I look at it two ways. One positive and one negative. Exclude the price of fuel, going on just cost of the booth/table/area and the cost of the room, I came out positive by a small but significant amount. Add in fuel and I come the exact same amount negative.
As for Con Dealer experience, I made a serious error and got fleeced for it, but it wont happen again. Another dealer hit me up first ting in the morning and cherry picked some comics I should have known were there and known their worth. I barely got the cabinets built, and didnt have time to computer and research and price all the books. I had my computer for quick look ups for pricing, but that obviously doesnt tell you full worth. Rookie mistake...wont happen again.
I bought a price gun on eBay....first thing i ever bought on eBay. every comic and GN will be bagged and priced before the next con. All the comics are bagged, and most of the GN's as well, but none are priced. The price gun is the cheapest way to price them all for first bid. I can think of better ways to do it, but dont have the money to implement it.....and my by "do it", I mean inventory management.
As for over all experience....it was great. It was a small room by memory of cons i have been to. An outer circle of 2-30 dealer and an inner circle of 20 or so artist of all sorts. I met a bunch of great people, was actually able to sell some comics to people who wanted them. I got a lot more young customers because my booth is a lot more open and inviting then the rows of comic book boxes! I give them a fair deal and the have a good experience. This makes my soul happy.

My full set up is another unit exactly like that, and a small single column unit. All of this is built. Only the one is painted, but my artist buddy John Murray is eager to do more.
My next con is the Orlando Comic Expo. My good friend Puma has agreed to provide me with room, and I appreciate it greatly.
I am also addressing the travel price issues. My truck does the job, but the trailer is so damn heavy, it absolutely destroys the gas mileage. I might have gotten 10 mpg. I hope to secure another truck before Orlando that will get my closer to 18 mpg's. It also has a bigger cab, and cruise control, which will be nice. Hope it works out.
I am planning a few more this summer. the Pensacola Paracon and DragonCon for sure. I would love to be set up at RTX, but that cost $1200 for a booth, and I dont have that much right now. There is a con in Birmingham I am on the waiting list for. If you know of one in your area, and would offer me, and likely my wife and child, room, we would consider the trip.

A BeginningApril 28th will find me in Jacksonville FL at the North Florida Comic Con. I will have a booth there. I will have as many of my comic drawers set up as I can fit in the area they give me. I have 10 full drawers.
I will be spending tomorrow building cabinets to hold the graphic novels. I should be able to get most of them done tomorrow. We had to wait until we had the drawers and stands done to start the cabinets since there fitting is dependent upon the way the rest sit.
This is the beginning of my dream. If I am ever going to get the end game I have in my head, I have to start somewhere, and this is where I am starting. I am well aware this will most likely be a long and hard road, but since I am sick of working for other people and their misguided notions of what is important, I have to make this work, for the sake of my sanity, and my childs future. One aspect of my end goal is a place she will want to be.
I have another con scheduled. May 18th&19th in Orlando, The Orlando Comic Expo. I huge shout out to my brother @morelikepuma for offering board for me and my family when we are there. I have a lot to do before that show to refine my booth. I am glad my first con is only a day, therefor, if I screw up, it'll be over quickly, lol. Regardless, I am going to be using it to figure out what I really need next....well, past what I already know I need.
What I need:
1) a website, with a store, a forum, room for all of my Family's projects
2) a business software program to help with the accounting aspect and inventory and the like
3) hard ware to go with that software program. mainly, a receipt printer, a bar code scanner, and a credit card swipe.
4) the art on the drawers finished
2&3 I already have the lines on, just waiting to see how the first con goes so I can get my software tailored for what I'll need.
1, though, is a lot tougher. I have been trying to find someone I know who knows how t do and is willing to help me out, and those people dont exist. I will need more money before I can make a fair offer to someone to build the site for me.
4 is in the works, and I have a great artist working on it...he is just a roundabout fuck up and takes forever to get it done....I know what I need to do to get the work out of him, and will do it when I get back from Jacksonville. I am paying him $25 a drawer, which isnt much, but its all I can afford, and he is a friend who originally offered to do it for free.
So that is where I am at and what I have been up to. This idea has dominated my mind for a couple of years now and my life for the last several months.
I am almost to the first check point!!!
Future plans include Pensacola Paracon in mid August, and DragonCon in Atlanta the first of September, andPensaCon next February. I will be doing more cons as well, ,

RTX?Looks like I will be going to Austin during the weekend of RTX. My niece really wants to go, but my parents wont let her go alone. I think that is lame, she is 17, and responsible and aware. She would be fine, but they say no, so I have to go escort her. I am not really caring about RTX. I have been to many cons, and I will go to many more, but RTX has never been one of the ones on my radar, but Whit really ants to go, so I am going to play the role of good uncle.
I am sure I will have a great time, even though I have no real plans of actually going into the con. It is $50 that I dont really have. I figure Austin will have enough things in its downtown area to keep me entertained during the weekend, and if any of you want to meet me (ha) I am sure we can get together for dinner or lunch somewhere.
So.....any of you going to RTX and would like to get up with me?

Conundrum So Ally is about to turn 5 and I have yet to expose her to Star Wars. When I say expose her to it understand she knows of the universe, but I have yet to sit with her and watch the original trilogy. There is a reason I have kept her form the original trilogy, and that reason is Lucas is an asshat. I have regained a lot of respect for the man with his recent deal with Disney and use of the proceeds, but I am still pissed about him not allowing the unedited versions of the OT to be sold anymore. Some of my friends have the classic VHS set of the unedited, but alas, I dont have a vcr. I know I could get them in dark alleys, but I really dont want to.....call it admiration for the Jedi code.
So what do I do?
Do I give in and watch whatever version is out there for sale and hope Ally gets it the way I did?
What am I saying....ofcourse she will.....but man wouldnt I love to let her see Han shoot first!

Pleasecopied directly from SpiderwolveCan I just get a separate, preferably organized feed/section of whom I'm watching so I can see journals/images that they have posted now? I was having a hard enough time with keeping up with this Tumblr (now more like fb) feed before...now? I might as well not even try. I don't mind seeing what everybody I am watching is liking...but. It needs to be somewhere else and not cluttering up the actual posts my friends are making.
