Doctor Who Mini-Rant SPOILERS!I don't want this to be a super long journal so I'm just going to give my quick opinion on last weeks episode and open it up for discussion.
SPOILERS BELOW THIS TEXT!!! If you know me at all then you know I love Doctor Who. Some people ( @DaCuban ) have said that they didn't like the episode two weeks ago but I loved it. I did however have a problem with this week's episode. I felt the whole alarm clock thing was a little iffy but my real problem was when grandfather ate The Doctor's memories. In my opinion the writers should have had The Doctor actually sacrifice (at least some of) his memories. It would have been awesome to have Clara save him and then have a moment where he goes "He took them, he took my memories". I think it would have been a cool story element that the writers could use for so many things in the future, especially for the 50th Anniversary episode (the 11th meets the 10th but doesn't remember him? How great would that be?!)
I just feel like they missed a great thing here . What do you think?
Life Updatesread the title as "Stuff that the general population probably dosen't give a shit about" Been awhile since I sat down and just wrote a journal about what's going on in my life. I have a big change in lifestyle coming up on Monday; I'm changing jobs! The first "real job" I ever had was working at a grocery store, it is also the one I'm leaving on Sunday for something else. The job itself is an exercise in mundanity, go to work, shut off your brain and check out people's groceries for 4-6hours then repeat, but it was a job and it did pay me and the people I worked with were nice. The problem was that I was only working part time, and saving up for events (like RTX, RTO ECT) or school was just impossible. A while back a friend told me that the design consultation company she worked for was moving buildings and that they were teaming up with RILEYS as an in house print shop for them. She generously offered to recommend me for a position in said print shop. A few months went by and I heard nothing and had pretty much forgotten about it. Then out of the blue I get a call from RILEYS head office saying that they were sending a representative to Ottawa to conduct interviews and wanted me there (they are based out west). We set up a date for the interview and met at an old folks home (it used to be a hotel and somehow RILEYS hadn't been told it isn't anymore ) and after a great interview I got a call saying I got the job! As of monday I will be a "Print Associate" at RILEYS. As such I'll be in charge of printing off all the jobs that the Design Company sends me and getting them done on time. It's only a two to three person operation so I'll be under a bit of pressure but I think I got it. The great thing about this job is that it's FULL TIME which, in the eyes of a part time grocery worker is like nirvana. Also I mentioned that I had events in June and July (RTO, RTX) that I would have to take time off for and they said it was ok! Sure now that I have a "Big Boy Job" I'm going to have to "dress up" for work everyday at 6am but hey, if it means that I'll be able to make some money for events and school it's a sacrifice I'm willing to make. Also I can't wait to be able to say TGIF and actually mean it.
In other news, I got my train tickets for RTO so I am definitely going. RTX is also still a go. Doctor Who is back on the air and I'm loving the season so far! Finally I'm still trying to get the Ottawa RT fans together to watch a hokey game, probably on the 20th as the Leafs and the Sens go head to head again, if you're interested check out this group.
Love you all in a total HeteroHomoSexual way, hope to see/meet you at RTO or RTX!
RTO Plans/QuestionUPDATE 2 My room is full but if you stumble upon this journal and are looking for people to share a hotel room with for RTO I can point you to this thread! Hope to see you there!
UPDATE The RTO staff have announced pricing for the hotel rooms! For a 4 person hotel room for 3 days each person would be paying $127. Once again, if you're interested in sharing a room leave a comment/personal message.
I've been contemplating on whether or not I'd be going to this year's Toronto RT fan gathering, RTO. I went to the final RvBTO last year (it was my first ever fan event) and had an AMAZING time. The biggest issue I have this year is that I'll also be going to RTX in July. This causes both money worries and Booking time off worries.
If I get this full time job I was interviewed for the other day then both those questions will be answered as I confirmed in the interview that I'd need these days off and full time means more dollas in the bank. If I don't then things will be a little more grey money-wise so I'd have to wait a bit to see if I could pull it off. It would also make it harder for me to commit to booking a hotel room under my name.
So at the end of all that build up I'm basically saying that I really want to go! The RTO staff just put tickets on sale and announced hotel discounts. My question is are there people who would be interested in sharing a room at the Delta Chelsea with me? I'd rather not book it myself as I did last year but if there's no group willing to take me in I'd be willing to do it if there's some people interested who can't/won't book it themselves. Feel free to hit me up in the comments or PM if you have an open spot in a hotel room or would be interested in making/joining one.

As some of you know, I currently work at a grocery store as a supervisor of the front end. Besides groceries we are also set up to allow people to send money through Western Union. At the end of the night the supervisor closing is responsible for printing off a copy of all transactions done through the WU system that day. We then take the signed slips we get from customers and staple them to the back of the report and file it away. It had been a slow night and I was printing off the WU report and talking with the Cashier at Cash 1 since the WU area and the cash are joined. As it finished I grabbed the signed receipts and was about to staple them to the back when one of them caught my eye. The signature on it looked like it was written by a three year old, it was all scribbly and didn't follow the line... kind of like this: I pointed it out to the cashier and this is the conversation that followed: Me: "Look at this signature" Cashier: "It looks like someone who's hand was broken" Me: "Yeah! maybe they were here because they owed the mob money! The (looks at where the money was sent to) Cambodian mob must have contacted a local member and told them to rough him up a bit so they went to his house and broke his hand so that he'd pay them their money." Cashier: "That would be crazy huh? how much did he owe them?" I look at the send amount Me: "Man, the Cambodian mob don't mess around! they went to all this trouble just so they could get back their $70.45!" Cashier: "Sigh, I was so ready to believe that story until you told me that."
