The Blue Dirt DevilSometimes talking to customers can be frustrating. While working at Canadian Tire one evening, I was wondering around the aisles, looking for something to do. It was not busy, so passing the time was hard. I then hear the phone ringing from two aisles down. At last, something to do.
I pick up the phone and answered the way I was taught. “Canadian Tire housewares, how may I help you?”
There was a quiet but raspy voice from the other end that replied “Yes, I’m looking for help with vacuum filters.” I could tell the man was older.
“I can help you with that” I say to him as I make my way other to the vacuum filters in aisle 62. “What kind of vacuum do you have?”
“I have a blue dirt devil” the old man replied.
“Okay,” I said, “but what model dirt devil is it?”
“It’s a blue one” he said again with authority. I was now confused. As far as I knew, there was no vacuum called the Dirt Devil Blue.
“Yes, but what is the specific name of it, like we have ‘Dirt Devil Dynamites’, and ‘Dirt Devil Jaguar’s’” I said to him.
“You know what,” the man said “maybe I’ll just call back when someone who knows something about vacuums is working,” and he hung up the phone.
I hope he finds the help he needs.
