New job tomorrowSo tomorrow I officially begin my co-op term with Citizenship and Immigration Canada, as a programmer. It's still technically part of my school program, but I get paid, so I consider it a job. I even got some spiffy new clothes!

(Yes this still needs to be ironed, just got it)
So yeah, wish me luck!

A quick perspective on Rooster TeethI know there's lots of other similar journals out there, so this'll be quick.
10 years is an enormous milestone. This place has accomplished so much, with a ton of content, a great community, and a boatload of recognition, awards, and praise. Personally, I have found amazing friends, an incredible girlfriend, and a place I can come to be thoroughly entertained whether it's watching a bunch of guys play video games, or live action comedy shorts, an amazing podcast, or even a machinima series based on Halo. You even gave my sister the job of her dreams.
So thanks RT. Keep up the good work.

New PopeJust a warning, there will be a bit of controversial stuff in here.
So as you all know, there is a new pope, Francis I. As nice as it is to be able to make pope puns and such, it also displays plainly the direction that the Catholic Church wants to go. And it made it quite clear today that they not in favour of any progression or reform. While Pope Francis seems like a nice fellow, his stances on the most controversial issues are extremely conservative and traditional, and do nothing to help anyone, to be perfectly frank. They are those values that only the most staunch Catholics and even just Christians in general still hold to, and it's sad.
To summarize his views, look here: www.mediaite.com/online/pope-francis-is-views-...
And yes, the first comment is pretty on point saying "So...... the Pope is Catholic, then."
Those that see themselves as agreeing with these views should really think. How AIDS is apparently a better alternative than contraception, or babies that a woman cannot simply afford to have. How same sex marriage is out to destroy God's plan. I mean come on now. And same-sex adoption as a form of discrimination? I've seen kids raised by same-sex couples who have been some of the happiest people I've ever seen. It doesn't made any sense, and is tying Catholicism and Christianity by extension down with little hope for evolution or change. The Catholic church already has many issues and scandals plaguing them. This bigotry based on the writings in a solitary book does not help humanity progress in any meaningful way.
