So, SkinsApparently E4 has decided that the current cast of characters in their drama Skins are too expensive. As such, in Season 3 they are wiping the slate and starting afresh with a new cast.
And they will be doing this every two years.
Now, maybe this is just me, but isn't this kind of a destructive mentality? You're only going to have about 19 episodes in TOTAL with one cast of characters, building up this complete story arc and character development, then you're just going to throw them away?
Are you fucking out of your mind?
Fuck you E4. If you can't afford the kid from About a Boy for your drama series, what CAN you afford.
I'm off to watch Life on Mars.

iToonzSo the BBC and Channel 4 have put their TV shows on the iTunes UK store, right? Shows like Torchwood, Spooks, Skins, Robin Hood, Spaced, etc are all on there now for £1.89 ($3.78... yes, ridiculous) for downloading pleasure.
So I saw this show when I was in Australia right, called Life on Mars. I was intrigued by such a concept. So I purchased the first episode from iTunes, completing my first (LEGIT!) UK iTunes store TV purchase, rather than my previous US store purchases. And I watched this first episode and what I found was brilliance. It appears to me that it is very rare that the BBC does something so absolutely brilliant. Spooks was the first exception to the general trend that the BBC outputs shit, and now Life on Mars is the second exception. I bought the rest of the season and I'm loving it.
John Simms, actor of Sam Tyler, is a very odd man... you know I'm not sure what it is but he just appears weird to me. I think it's because he looks so weak and tiny yet he's playing the protagonist in this show... when he doesn't look very interesting... eh, it's odd.
But how absolutely awesome is Gene Hunt? His one-liners are absolutely spectacular. He has superb writing. I could reel off great quotes from him but I better not.
So yeah, that's what I've been doing in my spare time. What I've been doing in my non-spare time is much more exciting, but that is a story for another time.

Home Sweet HomeSo I'm back in glorious England. It's currently 6:52am. I got back here at around midnight, but haven't slept due to jet lag. Instead I've watched the new season of The Riches (hands down simply beautiful), new episodes of Diggnation and The Totally Rad Show, new episode of Pixel Perfect and watched all the Revision3 Gazettes' that I've missed. In the most recent one Sarah Lane (TechTV days) took the camera on tour around SXSW, but ended up simply strolling around downtown Austin, Texas. I thought this was really cool, I got to see a glimpse of what Austin is really like in the least suspected way.
I'm going into school in about two and a half hours, it'll be interesting to see if I can stay awake. I'm really enjoying school at the moment, it's really clicking that my time in the place is coming to a speedy close and I'm working with a lot of great people to crank out awesome stuff. My team and I just completed our second drama piece for the course, and we're starting to think about the third and final one.
But of course when school ends at 3:20 later today the fun doesn't stop! I'm straight to work. A lot of stuff has cropped up while I was gone, Grifball.com has been having its fair share of problems, so I gotta get it working all sweet with the multiple league conferences we have going now. Also a small, cool little thing for iPhone and iPod touch users coming up soon that will be nice to do. And then there's preparing for the grand "2.0" which is currently being cranked away on by other people, I'll be jumping into the development cycle pretty soon, so I'll then be free to murder your beloved Internet home. Say hello to custom CSS and HTML in your profiles! Oh and of course there'll be the standard autoplaying music flash player.
But seriously, no, not doing that.

Hello From Somewhere ElseSo I'm still in Australia and I'm completely destroyed. I managed to fix the Grifball scheduling bug but apparently another bug has cropped up with the match reporting. I don't even know how that could possibly be the case, the Bungie.net reporter has always worked before. Oh, bloody hell. At the very least I'll be home on Sunday. But for now I'm just seeing this whole trip as a nuisance and a waste of time.
The sun is nice though.

So Long, Farewell, Auf Wiedersehen, G...I'll be gone for the next few weeks, out in the sunny locale of Australia. Not so much a vacation (though I wish it was) as a family meetup. To be honest I'm not greatly looking forward to it. Anyway, I'll be back in a little bit, if anything major comes up with Grifball.com... you're screwed.
No, but talk to Burnie or Quikthinkr.
See you in a bit.

Machinima Europe: Found!I went down to see RT's presentation at the Machinima Europe festival a little while back. The festival itself was pretty shit to be honest. However, during the RT session (whose RvB International video I found to be hysterical), somebody took a photo on Flickr and you can see me and Joel on the front row, beside Gavino.
I'm in the dashing blue t-shirt. It seems the front row stood out from everybody else in the shot.

Steve Jobs"It will again combine the SDK + the new capabilities, there will be a beta release going out today to thousands of developers. We need their fantastic feedback. We're going to ship this to every iPhone customer in June, and it's going to be a free software update." Mild applause.
"In just a few months..." MONTHS! "every iPhone user will get what they saw today. But there's another part to this as well: the iPod touch. Everything will run on the iPod touch as well, including enterprise features. We account for the touch differently than we do for the iPhone so there will be a nominal charge for the touch." Why do you hate me. No. I want to know. Why are you doing this to me. Fine! I'll buy a goddamn iPhone now! Are you happy? Are you happy that you've broken me?!

No Country for Old MenWoooowwwww.
That is all I can muster for now. Let me come back in a bit when I've figured this movie out.
-returned-
Best movie I have ever seen. The ending suited it perfectly. Just.... bloody hell. Brilliant.
