non-modern warfare related newsAll week long, every discussion, podcast, web site, banner ad, newspaper (they still make those?), radio station, tv commercial, and so forth has touch upon the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 release. Having decided NOT to play the game until I actually have time to do so, keeping away from spoilers and video has been almost impossible. I've already watched Jack play through most of the game at least twice. It looks awesome.

So as a change of pace, here's a nice sweet little music video my brother and I did for our friend David Wingo (under the band name Ola Podrida). The album and video were just released this week:

"This Old World" - Ola Podrida

Listen to it to relax after being shell shocked by Modern Warfare... can you get PTSD from a video game?

Same with me and Halo ODST!
My 360 broke and I don't have the money to buy ODST let alone fix the 360.
So I have to wait and avoid spoilers like the damn plague!

I really like that video, it has a very down-to-earth feeling, yet a really deep message it's relating. At least thats how it seemed to me.

That's funny... every commercial, ad, etc. that I've seen have been about some prescription drug for people with Herpes.

Nice video. Was it difficult to film ? Have to do lots of takes ? It looks flawless, like she did not mess up once, but that would be a miracle ! The music was really nice, not what I normally listen to, but pretty cool nontheless.

Hey, I like that song - checking out the album now (album? cd? what the hell do we call collections of music that are released now that we don't buy cd's anymore?)

Music + Blond girl + Bat + Destructible objects = High entertainment value

The perfect formula for a winning music video. Also, the song kicked ass.

I remember back when me and my unit was stationed at Ding Dang twenty clicks outside of Ning Nang. It was five minutes to 00:00, and the mood was getting tense. Your Uncle Jerry had drunk all our Red Bulls on our way to the game release, and we had to keep ourselves awake with nothing more than Mountain Dews, Bawls, 5 hr Energy Drinks, soda, coffee, caffeinated gum, heroine and some crack that turned out to be chalk scraped off an eraser. We'll never forget that release night, and the way that our enemies assailed us, leering at us, attempting to demoralize us with their battle cries, "Go home." Our telecommunications channels were jammed, continuously being fed white noise by our enemies in the form of calls including, "your son just hit his head on the kitchen table, you need to bring him to get stitches NOW!" and other such nonsense that we knew to be traps or best not looked on as we dug deep into our media blanketed cluster fuck that we called The Line. It was a fine line you walked, between player and gamer. And let me tell you, son: on that night, and for the glorious 82 consecutive hours that we played CoD:MW2, we were gamers. We were gamers.

War <games> are hell, son.

can you get PTSD from a video game?

I don't see why not, if the sounds sound real and you have already been through a war i could see it happening.

and you still mentioned MW2 by saying you wouldn't mention it. See? it's inevitable.

modern warfare 2 was pretty cool yes. but after years of bitching to BioWare they finally put out Dragon Age: Origins. BRILLIANT!

Very cool video for a very cool song. Glad to see you gave the girl safety glasses and gloves to smash windows with. I'll have to check that album out.

I hope not. After that 2000 LB VBIED detonated against my Tank, if that game gives PTSD, it might throw me over the edge.
