Little steps. Much like my Finchy friend, I'd like to take steps toward doing what I actually like to do with my life. For me, this would be in the direction of art-related stuff. Not all that many of you know what I do outside of this site, but my regular job involves web-tech-type stuff.. a fair bit of my time goes toward planning and growing our local Zombie Walk/Ashtoberfest.. and most of the rest of my spare time, when not drinking whiskey or battling spiders, involves various art projects. I know that a lot of you have seen the portraits I've made throughout the site.. mostly to keep the We Draw RT Users thread alive and on track [because Jeff made a pretty incredible thread there], and I know this because I get a lot of requests for these pictures, and unless you happen to catch me at the right moment, I'll typically turn these down due to lack of time.
Let's turn that around. If you've seen these, like them, and want one for yourself, I'm now accepting actual commissions for them:
there are more here..
I'll be charging basically $20 for a portrait like this. I can also mail you a print for an additional $5 (I don't make money on that, it's a courtesy thing). What you should know: these are digital, and I'll need at least one reference picture. In terms of the monochromatic theme, I usually choose a color that reminds me of that person and run with it. If you want a specific color, or a full-color picture - no problem, just say so. If you want something more complex than that, general illustrations, logos, or designs - I can do that too. They may cost a little more, but we can work that out.
Start with a message, and we'll go from there.
I'll still be doing random drawings here and there to contribute to the community, or if I've specifically said to you in the past that I'll get to a portrait of you when I have some extra time. But if you request something, I'm going to refer you back to this journal.
Thanks for being a fantastically inspiring community.

Now let me get some pictures taken with the boy.
It's happening, Jackie-san.
I never said I didn't take commissions.. I've been doing business logos and paintings for years. I just didn't want to try to make it my main means of money-making for exactly the reason you just stated. This isn't quite that. Doing things on my terms will keep me happy and allow me to continue what I like doing.

p.s when joel and i get a house, i shall perhaps have to commission you to paint/draw us something to exhibit on our walls :D
Here's hoping you make more money than I did … stupid community cheapscapes. Try not to let the oh-i-would-totally-get-one-if-i-had-the-money-but-i-don't comments get to you, annoying thought they may be. Good luck.
Pro tip: Always always always ALWAYS make sure the client pays first. I'm pretty sure you remember why.
I'll soooo be your best friend if you make me a freebie. Okay, technically you already have, seeing as how my ruggedly handsome likeness is one of the samples portraits on this very post. But then again, how much Jackie art have I done? And how how much of it have you paid. Okay yeah, it's true, none of it was solicited, some if i down right creepy. But... but that's all off point. You may choose to take this comment seriously or not. I'll leave that up to you.
But seriously folks, she's good. Pay her for drawing.
Just wanted you to know.
fix't.
