Things Change1:10 Jorge: "Didn't think anyone survived Pagasi Sir."
Jorge was inquiring that he recognized Noble 6 as a survivor of Operation Torpedo, the 300 Spartan III assault on the covenant supply planet Pegasi Delta. Previously in Halo Ghosts of Onyx there were only 2 survivors (Tom and Lucy.) Either implying that Noble 6 being an unknown 3rd survivor.
It's later written that Noble 6 was removed from Beta company 2 months before Operation Torpedo.
Obviously this was removed in the final game but definitely makes a drastic difference in Canon
Moral of the story: Sometimes things might be said in a trailer that are then dropped in the final product. All in the hope of making a better story. ;)

Haha indeed... But uh... For fun? It's not like I actively wait for journals to post "First!" Come to think of it... This is my first first! I know it's hard, but take an internet joke.
Moral of the story: The RvB season 9 trailer is no longer cannon and the next episode of RvB will include a revised, different version of that storyline. (Burnie Burns may or may not have explained this to me in Australia).
yea trailers for RVB never actually match with the seasons, burnie has stated that they are more teasers letting you know that there is RVB coming than an actually trailer
That or you could just consider Reach non-canon considering it fu...messes with a lot of the pre-estabilished events in the Halo canon, like how the Master Chief and Cortana met, how Reach fell, etc.
Also it is 1:30am. I thought I was the only one awake at this time.
Wow, that's interesting. I never knew they were even trying to make Reach canon to Ghosts of Onyx (which is a great book). I hope Red vs. Blue stays as canon as possible though ;)
Only thing that worries me is that they probably wouldn't warn us unless it was one big mother of a change coming down the line. Although, so long as Caboose is Halo canon, I'm happy.

Well, this explains the bit in the Season 9 trailer about simulation troopers getting the jump on Maine and Wash...and the Freelancers going to a civilian medical facility when the Mother of Invention clearly has some sort of medical bay onboard...and York being asked about his eye as if it had just been injured that mission...
Which raises the question: Was anything referenced in the Season 9 trailer canon?
I never noticed this o.o;; granted I haven't played Reach in awhile.. or the xbox really... I do like it though, adds a bit of pizzazz to the story for me.
I don't consider Halo: Reach as true canon. It did ruin the already running canon of the series through the books and previously released games because Bungie felt like taking one giant dump on Microsoft and the canon before they left.
I'm sorry, but Bungie did a terrible job at preserving canon with Reach and in doing so created several major plot holes that a lot of us felt really uncomfortable with.
I admit I stopped following what was and was not considered canon sometime after the release of Halo 2, but to my knowledge, at least back in those days, Bungie never confirmed the books to be canon in the first place.
I kind of feel like the RvB canon isn't really being acknowledged throughout this season at all, though. It was said several times that York's eye got fucked up by Tex--more specifically, Omega. AI's haven't even been MENTIONED yet, other than Alpha. Note: York said this, I'm pretty sure he'd remember.
I'm also kinda disappointed at Maine's characterization. Woulda been more tragic / interesting if he wasn't just a brute. Still, I do like the direction the South/North backstory seems to be going.
Delta: York, why are we doing this? Killing OMEGA will not repair the damage he did to your optic nerve. York: I'm not doin' it to fix my eye, D. I'm doin' it because my eye is broken. Delta: I apologize, but that does not make sense to me. York: Omega and Allison were always the be...

Delta: I apologize, but that does not make sense to me. York: Omega and Allison were always the best. Noone could compete with them. Not me, not Wyoming not anybody. Trying to beat them when I should have given up is how I got hurt in the first place.
So it's not just the trailer that isn't canon, I guess?
It's nice to get some more Halo background, especially since I'm waiting for Cryptum and Grasslands to get printed in the smaller format before buying them. Thanks, this'll keep me going for at least another week.
im glad someone said something about it. i think people should just enjoy whats given, some things change but in the end the result was magnificent! RVBF
But the Spartan IIIs were only equipped with SPI armor, not the MJOLNIR armor >.> On top of that the existence of the 3rd generation wasn't known to the Spartans during the fall of Reach Just finished re-reading Ghosts of Onyx last night lol

To regular soldiers there is no discernible differences between the Spartan IIs and IIIs, as far as they're concerned, they're all just Spartans.
2 different interpretations of the story I guess... the more I think about it the more I realize you really can't combine them.

Not to say it's not fun to connect the dots from time to time but if you try to flesh out details of one using the contents of the others you start running into major plot holes.
For example: According to the books Kurt was the only Spartan who knew anything about the IIIs until Halsey brought Kelly to Onyx, so then we could say that either there was another battle on Pegasi Delta that was a massacre (which could work), or that all of the spartans on Reach are IIIs (which just don't work). Oh well, some discrepancies in the plot of a game that's been getting updates, sequels, prequels and books added to it over a decade isn't all that surprising haha (nor does it taint its pure awesome ^.^)
I'm actually really delighted that Monty of all people picked up on that. Welcome to the "insanely obsessive" side of Halo, dude. War Sphinxes serve us cookies on plates made of solid light.
Also yes, for the most part SIIIs were equipped with SPI armor. Except there were the Headhunters, who wore armor much closer to MJOLNIR stuff. And the team of mostly-SIII's that trotted around Reach? They weren't fighting all the big losing fights.
Actually, if you go by what we've seen in the games and add it to the books, you get something really weird. The truth is that MC and the Pillar of Autom were already in orbit getting their ass kicked by a Covenant armada and took massive damage that wasn't added at the very beginning of the first Halo. In fact, in the first Halo, they were completly unscathed by the fighting, something that didn't happen in the books. And another thing to consider is that the second spartan for Co-Op was actually in a sense LInda who had been hurt on the station Cheif went on to keep the nav data from falling into the Covanants hands. Cortana is very acurate. THe only thing that got me was that in the beginning JOrge was was actually Spartan-051. Kurt Amberose was Spartan-051 and the same man that trained the Spartan III's. THey did later change that thought. But the Spartan III's were supposed to never be known about by anyone really. And their suits were deisnged for stealth, not up close combat like the MOJNIR suits were. THey didn't have shields and they could only tkae a few hits before failing. So we never really got to play the real Spartan III's like I would have liked.
well, someone else explained that it was more of an expansion of cortana, and that REACH is during the MIDDLE of the battle of reach or something like that. but i should go back and re-read that last part, i think it DOES make sense, but your right, it does need to be cleared a little bit.
NItetrooper they had actually finished their shackdown and were alreayd on their way when the attack happened. they never landed. And the damage that they took was actually from a new weapon that the Covi had come up with with. THe auttom had never been built in the athmosphere ofa planet. It was built in space. And they never managed to fix the damage either.
Reach did sort of take place during the battle. THey mentioned it n halyse 'snotes thatit hapened during themeting to the other spartans IIs about the mission they would be going on. So it is again a halftruth
Wait.. wouldn't that mean that there are more SPARTAN-III's who survived Pegasi Delta. since Tom and Lucy also thought they were the only one surviving.. AWESOME!
oh man, the next game trilogy is gonna be epic, watch spartan 4s big some big ass mother fuckers.
though actually, now that the covenant war is over, we need to tally up how many spartans are dead or not, this shit be confusing. and halo legends (which i demand to non canon) doesn't help.
Your attention to detail is always impressive Monty and it really shows in RvB, I'm so glad you were hired to make the show so much more awesome than it already was

OOOOOOOOOOOOOO
the use of AI is new to the freelancer program? :P
nice tidbit of knowledge there monty

I'm a devout Halo nerd and even I didn't notice this.
I'm also kinda disappointed at Maine's characterization. Woulda been more tragic / interesting if he wasn't just a brute. Still, I do like the direction the South/North backstory seems to be going.
York: I'm not doin' it to fix my eye, D. I'm doin' it because my eye is broken.
Delta: I apologize, but that does not make sense to me.
York: Omega and Allison were always the be...
Later: Church was never human. He is an AI based on the director.
You would think people would stop moaning about 'canon' already.
Red Vs Blue canon = Whatever the latest season says it is. Get over it.
