Red Like Roses Part IIhmmm....well, it seemed that people really liked "Red Like Roses" from the first RWBY preview trailer, but I saw a lot of comments that people wished there were more vocals. And I agreed!! So, when I had the chance to slip another song into episode 8, I decided to try to follow up on that original thought.

Despite my previous statements, we've decided to release the song on iTunes (etc) this week. Should be there in a few days, I'll post links when they are up.

**The version we'll release this week is the one from the episode, so it is NOT the full version of the song (believe me--it's not done yet). The full version will be on the CD which will be available in October.

We are so glad you like the song, and we truly appreciate your kind comments . This is the first song where Casey and I really collaborated on the lyrics.

Red Like Roses Part II

i couldn't take it couldn't stand another minute
couldn't bear another day without you in it
all of the joy that I had known for my life
was stripped away from me the minute that you died

to have you in my life was all i ever wanted
but now without you I'm a soul forever haunted
can't help but feel that i had taken you for granted
no way in hell that i can ever comprehend this

i wasn't dreaming when they told me you were gone
i was wide awake and feeling that they had to be wrong
how could you leave me when you swore that you would stay
now i'm trapped inside a nightmare every single f'ing day

it's like a movie but there's not a happy ending
every scene fades black and there's no pretending
this little fairy tale doesn't seem to end well
theres no knight in shining armor who will wake me from the spell

i know you didn't plan this
you tried to do what's right
but in the middle of this madness
i'm the one you left to win this fight

red like roses
fills my head with dreams and finds me
always closer
to the emptiness and sadness
that has come to take the place of you

"couldn't bare another day without you in it"

"bare" in that line should be "bear".

But, all in all, it's still a great song. :)
#14  Posted 1 year ago
As verbs, bare means "to uncover" or "to expose" whereas bear means "to carry" or "to have a tolerance for or endure".

Why don't you just take my freezer?!?!?!?!?!?

DUUUUDE!!! I am blown away and am trying to still guess which part goes where just by listening to the song and reading the lyrics. I got a good taste of what's in where. :)

Also, The cat Rusty said (and I quote) "MEEOOOOWW! Meow meow meeeooow meow meow, MEOW MEOW MEOW!"

Glad to know the CD release date is October, I'm planning on putting aside some of my NZ Armageddon Expo money to grab that when it comes out.

But as usual, the series is one of the best I've seen for a long time, and the music is just one part that makes it so Epic! I've been dying (literally, every minute I have to wait is one less on my lifespan) to get my hands on both this and the full version.

One question, Jeff - did you consult with Monty and the writing team on the lyrics or are they just what you felt fitted the moment?

Honestly the music you have created for this series is incredible. The second version of "Red Like Roses" has to be my favourite song played so far and as soon as the CD comes out I WILL be downloading it, no matter how broke I am from university!

Keep up the amazing work and know that what you are doing is really appreciated by all of your fans out there :)

We love you!!

Awwhh it's okay :) It is though probably your best work so far!

Looking forward to seeing a lot more from you Jeff and yet again wanted to show my appreciation for all the hard work you have put in for the series, as you can see from all the comments it really hasn't gone un-noticed

Yay! More music! I've been loving the music of the series so far, especially how the character motifs keep popping up here and there. I can't wait to get the full soundtrack, but in the meantime, I'll just listen to this new song on a daily basis.

Well, ever since RWBY's first trailer, Ruby's trailer, premiered, I've been following it. Following a very painful year from losing my parents, and preparing to enter the Navy, RWBY gave me something to look foreword to. Cool story, badass characters, nice comedy, and epic action. And on top of all of that, bringing it all together, was the music. Red Like Roses, Mirror Mirror, From Shadows, I Burn, and This Will be the Day. All of these songs are amazing. While Red Like Roses didn't seem to fit Ruby's trailer (for me initially, now I think it's good), it was a great track and it sounded awesome. Then Weiss' trailer comes out, and Mirror Mirror instantly had me captivated. Following Weiss' trailer, didn't think it could get better. Then you pulled out From Shadows, and I instantly found my new workout track. And then you brought them all together for I Burn, mixing some of my favorite songs and making them even better, a feat I didn't think was previously possible. And to top it off now, you remade Red Like Roses, and the episode had me clamoring for the new version. I think it's swiftly becoming my favorite song. I fully plan to get the Soundtrack when it's released, half for all the great songs from before, and half just for the new Red Like Roses. I have all of the other songs and I listen to 'em daily, on top of rewatching all of the trailers and episodes every week, half for the action and comedy, and half for the awesome sound track.

Sorry for the rant, but still, good work with the awesome music man. Monty and the crew might make RWBY look badass, but you and Casey are the ones making it sound badass. Thank you. To you and Casey, thank you. Most people ignore the music, but a good soundtrack can easily make or break a show. But you guys are doing it right. So, keep it up, and stay awesome.

Hey thank you so much. If that was a rant, you are welcome to rant all you like . We very truly appreciate your kind words and we are very very happy that you enjoy the music and the series. Sounds like you had a very rough year there, it means so much to us that we were able to give you somethin...
