The one with the endEarlier this year I made a resolution to visit this site on a more frequent basis and as this is my first post since then you would be correct in saying that I have failed to keep that resolution. Every now and then I log in and see what has been going on with the people I watch but my compulsion to participate in any meaningful way has long since left me. With that said I think the time has come for me to finally admit that my time here is over, cheers for the laughs everyone, catch you next time.
And for anyone still interesting in following my antics I update my twitter page somewhat regularly.
I actually didn't take many pictures over the weekend as I didn't really feel like spending the whole time watching through a viewfinder. The shots below represent the best of the bunch, enjoy.
In other news, I'm still on the lookout for a new camera. The PowerShot is a nice point and shoot but it really lacks the reach for an event like this. Suggestions would be most welcome.
The one with the night shiftLast week I started a 6 month contract with the London Stock Exchange as what they call a Computer Operator. The offer came totally out of the blue but as it was such a good opportunity and as the pay was way over the high end of my salary expectations I accepted the position immediately. Of course, as with everything in life, the job comes with a catch bounding along behind it. This particular catch is that the role demands unbroken monitoring of the systems and therefore a shift pattern that can provide the 24/7 cover required.
Now I am not a night person. I have never been a night person and doubt that I will ever be a night person. So it is with some amount of trepidation that I looked at the rota for next week and spotted that I have five days of night shifts ahead of me. Five days where my working day will begin at 10:30pm and not finish until 8:00am the following day. Five days where every tick of the clock after 11:30pm will remind me that I ought to be tucked away in bed, fast asleep, dead to the world. Five days that will provide unnecessary confirmation that I am not a night person.
This weekend I have attempted to get acclimatised to this arse backwards approach to the working day by staying up as late into the early morning as I could manage before attempting to stay asleep well past noon. Friday was an unmitigated failure, by 10pm I raised the white flag having been pummeled into submission by a week of 5am starts that comes with the day shift. Saturday night was a mixed bag. Playing Call of Duty online helped to stave off the sleep until around 3am when my eyes decided that they had really quite enough strain for the night and led me willingly to bed. Unfortunately the sleep that followed was piss poor resulting in me typing this just before midnight and already longing for my bed.
So with 6 hours to kill before my bedtime I guess I ought to put the kettle on. It's going to be a looooong night.
The one with the tears of joyNo matter how many times I watch this I still end up crying with laughter by the end. British comedy writing at its very best IMO.

It was a great day of racing but it was not so good for photography. I think I may have to invest in an upgrade before Goodwood and Silverstone. Until next time, J
