Mr Goostoff's ADVENTURES IN MODDINGI know that more than likely no one will read this, but I need to document my journey along the path of Fallout 3 Modding (on the PC of course).
I was surfing the web for cool Fallout 3 stuff and came across a website that hosted mods =O Found a few cool mods, learned how to install and use them, all cool. BUT THEN. I came across a mod that I knew I couldn't live without: Weapon Mod Kits.
So Begins Mr Goostoff's Adventures in Modding...
Download, place mods in correct files, play game. Nope, turns out that I downloaded the wrong version. Delete mod files, go back to site, find mod, download correct mod file. Place mod in correct files, play game. Now i get a notice saying that I'm not running FOSE and this message will display every 10 seconds until I run FOSE. It does. Close game, Google whatever the hell FOSE is. Find FOSE, download, run FOSE. Nope, it needs to be placed in the Fallout 3 folder. Place FOSE in Fallout 3 folder, run. Nope, that version of FOSE doesn't support my version of Fallout 3. Delete FOSE files, download correct version of FOSE. Run FOSE. Wait a second, where'd all my save files go? Close Fallout 3, spend half an hour googling the answer. Move save files to a different folder. Play Fallout 3. Continue last save. Huh? This save is depending on items no longer available? Well, I'm not sure what that means, so I'll Load anyways. Wait a minute... Where'd all my expansion packs go? Close Fallout 3. Google the answer. Copy+Paste path name for the hidden Expansion pack files. Do a search for them. Discover that I'm supposed to replace "User Name" with my actual user name. Redo that 5 minute search. Notice I forgot to check "Include hidden files" Redo the now 10 minute search. Find the files, take a few minutes to find out which ones are the actual expansion files. Move the correct files into the Fallout/Data folder. Start up game. Great success. Gotta love modding <3
