My Rooster Teeth Top Ten for 2012As 2012 comes to a close, I wanted to thank everyone that works at Rooster Teeth for the amazing job they have done this year. It was a year of enormous growth, incredible milestones, and unexpected triumphs for us, and we couldn't have done it without such a hardworking and dedicated team. So, in acknowledgement of everything that the RT crew has done, here is my top ten list for the year:

#10. Red vs. Blue Season 10 - I was pretty sure we wouldn't all survive this one, but I wasn't sure if it would be me, Kathleen, Monty, Ryan, Miles or Kerry to drop first. Somehow we all made it. Everyone poured their heart out making our most ambitious season ever and I couldn't be more proud of the results.

#9. One Billion Views on YouTube - It might now only equal one music video from PSY, but we thought it was pretty incredible. Two billion is already in our sights. Suck on that, Gangnam Style.

#8. RVBX: Ten Years of Red vs. Blue Box Set - We were absolutely sure there was no possible way we could complete this and Season 10 in the same year, so in classic RT style we did it anyway. Working on it brought back a lot of memories. We gave it all our all and I hope everyone loves it as much as I do.

#7. The Gauntlet - One of my favorite things about Rooster Teeth is that we never stop trying new things, even when they are incredibly difficult. The Gauntlet was our biggest live-action production to date, and I loved that we were able to make this with members of our community. Congratulations to all the contestants and particularly our final four, it was awesome getting to know you and watch you compete. And special thanks to Brandon for making this show happen. Get some sleep, you earned it.

#6. The Rooster Teeth Video Podcast - After a lot of deliberation and debate over how to pull this off, we pretty much said fuck it and just decided to go for it. Thank you to all our sponsors for making it possible, we hope you are loving it.

#5. The Day 5 shoot - It was almost an afterthought with everything that was happening with RTX, but this deserves to be mentioned as the most audacious live-action shoot we've ever done. Over a thousand people in the middle of downtown Austin all moving in exact synchronization - how the hell did we manage this?! I can't wait for the finished series to debut.

#4. RWBY - If you thought you knew what Monty, Shane and our animation team were capable of after seeing RvB Season 10, you have a lot to learn. Classes begin in 2013.

#3. Achievement Hunter releases Horse #100 and leads us to our biggest month of YouTube views ever - November 2012 was a pretty spectacular month for us. We started off by releasing RVBX, the Season 10 DVD, the 200th episode of Red vs. Blue and the 100th episode of Horse within 24 hours of the release of Halo 4. The Achievement Hunter team went on to make an insane amount of great content over the next few weeks, propelling us to over 94 million views on YouTube in just one month! They might seem like they are just goofing around, but Geoff, Jack, Gavin, Michael, Ray and Ryan are about the most dedicated guys you'll ever meet.

#2. A Simple Walk Into Mordor - When Kerry pitched me this idea I thought it was crazy in the best way possible. I can't believe he, Chris and Nick actually made it, and they still have all their toes (mostly)!

And finally...

#1. RTX - I think more than anything this event sums up what Rooster Teeth is all about. Our slogan is "Where Gaming meets the Internet," but equally important to us is that RTX is where the community, fans and staff of Rooster Teeth all come together. I have never been more nervous about anything in my life, but our 2012 event turned out to be more than we could have ever hoped for. From the awesome eSports stage to all the fantastic panels to the incredible concert, this was one hell of a show. Thank you to the RTX team, our freaking bad ass Guardians, and the entire RT community for making it such a success. Let's do it again in 2013!

So that was our year. I have a lot of runners up including the Best of RvB DVD, our music, Animated Adventures, the big store upgrade and merch improvements, tons of website fixes and enhancements (no regular Monday crashes!), and other stuff nobody would even know about (we made huge improvements in accounting!). Thanks again to everyone at RT for being total kick ass take-no-prisoners rock stars.

What's your Rooster Teeth top ten for 2012? And what are you looking forward to in 2013?

Good times, good friends, and RT... can't go wrong there.

Also, I'm drunk to happy new year!

As someone who was in my final year of high school, I want to say a big thank-you to the RT team for being a great stress relief. When ever I got home I played games for an hour and listened to a podcast. Thanks guys for getting me through the year.

You know Matt, that top 10 is impressive when you think back to 10 years ago, and this was a little online show produced in a closet.

You guys have come a long way, and it has been awesome to see you guys flesh RT out into something impactful.

Congrats to you all.

Epic list, Matt! Thanks to the entire RT crew for all hard work this year. WE ARE NOT WORTHY!

Ignoring going to and meeting new people at RTX (which was super-awesome), a mention has to go out to having Geoff, Gavin and Ben being at MCM Expo London. Who will we see at next year's MCM?

Red vs Blue PSA - Sleeper: Live action Rex vs Blue was a treat

10 Year Bow Set Extras - Rooster Teeth tells us about how they've grown, what they've learned, and that you shouldn't pay your friends so much money to work for your company.

RTX - Ok. I'm ready to do it again. Let's do this.

Day 5 - The footage of Joel quietly breaking down as the people drop dead all around still chokes me up. I CANNOT WAIT TO SEE THIS!

I wrote up my 2012 review in 3 journals...and most of it has to do with how much Rooster Teeth and the RT Community made my year absolutely magical.

There were so many things this year that were awesome!
I loved the feeling when I would open up my YouTube home page and see a whole heap of new AH content. I think I enjoyed every single Let's Play this year, despite not playing most of the games myself. I think the Minecraft Let's Plays convinced me to actually buy Minecraft and give it a go myself! Thanks AH!
And the addition of Ryan has proven to be very entertaining.
I was totally stoked at the response to my RTX song and even more surprised when I won! The community has been a really big highlight for me this year. They have encouraged me to do more fan music than I could have mustered on my own. RT should be proud that their fans are the most encouraging, least negative people on the internet. In a world full of haters, RT fans stand tall and say nice things! Hurrah!
RvB 10 was totally amazing last year and I can't wait to see the new storyline and story arch for this year! The animation was mind blowing and the script was absolutely heart wrenchingly amazing.
RTOZ was a massive highlight of last year. Meeting up with heaps of fellow RvB lovers under one roof was like a form of heaven on earth. And obviously meeting Gav and Burnie was a big deal too.
One a side note, RT staff should be commended for their spirit. Gav and Burnie were sitting in a stall all day meeting people and telling stories and when they came to RTOZ they were as peppy and spirited as if they hadn't been sitting in a booth in Supernova all day.

I told you and the rest of the Project Freelancer panel at RTX, I would like to join the cult of the Director, and help him take over the world. Me and everyone else in that hall...

We definitely love you and all the content y'all make, so the second most thing I am looking forward to is ANYTHING you guys are making.

You know RT is awesome when a milestone season of their marquee product isn't even the biggest highlight. Keep up the good work.

The Podcast is closer to the top of my list and I do have to say 'Thank you Rooster Teeth' because listening to it each week makes some hours of work easier to handle. And although I have gotten weird looks for laughing out loud or agro for wearing headphones, it is all worth it and I look forward to another year of podcasts.

Burnie quits a management Job nine years ago, starts a production company, creates a new business model for distribution of content, weathers a recession as a producer of free online videos while supporting and expanding the platform to include achievement hunter, the gauntlet, Rtx and a simple walk. He's still not ready to commit!

RT and AH have been a joy since I joined in June, The more stuff I deal with from you guys, the more I feel like it's a group of friends I don't even talk to. You guys are a remarkable crew and I thank you cordially for brightening up my year, looking forward to a great 2013 f let's plays, RVB, podcasts and maybe even RTX if I can fit it in my schedule. Keep it classy Rooster Teeth.
#29  Posted 1 year ago
To do that they would first have to have class. Rooster teeth is famous for knowing nothing of the sort and yet being high quality. It's like fart noises in Dolby digital surround sound.
