Just a guess but it's probably cause they knew they were putting this set out, they knew the dvd would sell beforehand. Also, they've never made a bluray before and they are making a 10 year set for their first one... I'm sure it's similar to making a dvd but there must have been...

Why are people saying this set is expensive? $180 for ten seasons is $18 a season. Sounds pretty reasonable to me.
