This week we talk about many things and actually have quite a bit of video game discussion! Burnie is a little hoarse this week but he managed to keep up just fine.
We also have a new RTAA highlighting Gavin's issues with his brain.
We also released part 1 of last week's podcast to non-sponsors which covers the first fourteen minutes of the podcast. You can check that out here. We will be releasing last week's podcast in chunks every day for non sponsors so you can see what the hubbub is about.
call me crazy gus, but i liked watching the fully released podcast like the one for 185 that came out after its initial launch. i might be listening to it almost a week later, but the topics are still relatively fresh and relevant. hopefully you'll release the full video version of 186 by the end of this week or the beginning of next. thanks for keeping the community up-to-date though, you guys rock!
My only "complaint" is that you guys need to work on your sound levels for this. Gus was qay too quiet while Miles and Gavin were loud, especially Miles (he was clipping out his mic). Burnie, however, was almost good, maybe ever so slightly loud, but basically ok.
People should stop complaining about the video podcast's. These are the very first of many to come and will most likely get better and better. Also, nonsponsors should just be happy that they are even uploading the videos.Great podcast this week as usual! Keep em coming!
Actually I don't mind if I will only get to see, like, just the first ten minutes of the podcast, because I'm not a sponsor and all, and I don't mind if it'll be released more than a week later. It'll be like a teaser for what sponsorship can give you. But anyway thanks for making it available :D
I'll still become a sponsor in a few days, though. Gotta support RT :)
This is such a clever way of pursuading into sponsorships. Look free members *shows one piece of the video podcast* everthing makes sense when you've got video along with the audio. Now pay us $10 for the rest of it.
But in all seriousness, a sponsorship isn't much different from being a regular member, you just get everything sooner and a few extra features. It's like having the pre-ordered version of RT membership with some DLC alongside it.
Well yeah ofcourse. when you've got about a million fans and half of them get a sponsorship you'll still have 5 million dollars per 6 months. It's an AMAZING way to earn money fairly and most people even PREFER spending money on a sponsorship to like a DLC on one of their favourite ga...

I'm not sold on the "video" part to be honest. And not just because I'm in Europe, so I can't ever watch the live stream "live". I really don't understand why they suddenly felt the need to make the podcast "live" at all - sure being able to see a video while they talk about it on screen is great, but it really wasn't that important to me.
The way I listen to the podcast, is mostly when on public transport on my way to (or from) uni (or anywhere else). I just sit back, relax (as much as you could on a tram/bus) and listen.
While it's fun watching them talk, I can't really free up 1-2h of my time every time to watch a video of people just talking to each other.
So yeah, when I have time, sure I'll watch the video. But I quite frankly don't think it's a good sponsorship selling point.
That said, anyone complaining about video only being available to sponsors (early, or limited to) is wrong anyway. The same content you had for free before is still free, so bugger off and enjoy what you have.
(ok for some reason my edits don't appear when I press "submit", not sure whether this is my browser or something else).
I understand a small teaser for the video, and releasing it late for non sponsors like myself, I just don't see why release the whole thing but a portion at a time.
P.S. for all of you who think us non sponsers are freeloaders, I used to be one till I realised I need food, medicine, and other things to keep me alive, instead of bonus videos.
Need I remind the non-sponsors that you still get the crazy-long audio version for no dollars, and that sponsorship (totally optional) keeps the RT crew online and doing what they do?
Plus, for slightly more than 1.66 dollars a month, you get to watch Gus corral some idiots into staying put for nearly 2 hours? That's worth it to me.

Just being a pedantic audio guy.

If it's SUCH an inconvenience to watch it in multiple parts, pay a sponsorship.
Also, wouldn't your internet connection cost way more than a RT sponsorship? just sayin'.

Still considering being a sponsor though.
First world problems.
