answer to gavin's 'speed of gravity' question:
gravity has no speed. it is a force and forces are instantaneous. gravity has an area of effect limited by the mass creating it, but within that area, the effect is instantaneous. It can also be affected by opposing forces, so the farther away the center of gravity is, the less we feel it, but it is always acting on us while we are within its influence. light, as a particle, can actually be affected by gravity, so the speed of a particle of light can actually be altered with large enough masses (black holes).
p.s. terminal velocity is the velocity at which the force of friction directly opposes the force of acceleration. basically, the point at which an object can no longer accelerate.
