bahaha!!! Carrie was referring to Fast and Furious Tokyo Drift when talking about the the cops not chasing you cuz their cars are factory tuned lol!!! idiot!!!!!
Haha looking "shadenfreude" up on wikipedia (yeah, yeah wikipedia wikischmedia) gives an excellent translation: lulz. I find this very amusing and also pretty fitting. ;P
Another variation is "Roman holiday" also mentioned at wiki if you're interested though as y'all said I guess it isn't something you can use in conversation :/
Belated comment but speaking of outsourcing stuff (like having video games secretly solve things, a la ender's game), there's actually a really cool science program called Foldit (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foldit). Basically, they're 3D protein folding models (important for realizing the conformation of structures, how they relate to body's immune defenses, interact with other receptors, etc.) as a video game. This article came out earlier this year in Sept about how gamers solved the structure of this one type of AIDS monkey protein in about 10 days, which takes actual computer algorithms significantly longer. Just thought I'd pass it along :)
Maybe someone said this but, regarding what Burnie said about aliens getting images of us being cruel to animals first...just wanted to pass on some random trivia, they won't. Radio and television signals go can go through space (not very fast though), so the first thing they'll see would be the first things we started transmitting in the late 30's....aka the Nazi Olympics, Hitler, and WWII footage. Yeah, i think we're fucked
just to be clear the chevy impala police cars that they use now are 100% different they have a V8 and are rear wheel drive compared to the V6 front wheel drive stock. they also have a different exhaust and intake system. and the pursuit variants are supercharged as well
that czech phrase or w/e it was about calling someone and hanging up so the other guy knows to call, we have that in romania we call it a beep, cause we just let it ring once or twice and hang up, we also use it like "pager" we say hey I'll give you a beep 5 min before I'm at the place so you know when to come, that's when the person is closer to the place like they're home or w/e. Guess this thing is used more in EU countries.
I had been missing podcasts and I came around to listen to this one and the conversation with the gold fish reminded me that i have had my gold fish since the 3rd grade 7 years. I'm not that old. It is pretty big about 5-7 inches long
I played the mw3 campaign and the next day I couldn't name a single character that wasn't in the other games I remember there was a Russian dude you played as a lot and an American and every vehicle blew up. There was also a part where you walked through a room of a destroyed building and then went back in time like 20 minutes earlier and played up to that point and realized that it was completely useless to add that in. I cant say a single significant plot progression point outside the beginning and the end. But battlefield was the same way I'm just disappointed at the lack of story in a lot of shooters like gears 3 mw3 bf3 and last year's Reach.
the reason why the loading screens take so much time is because it autosaves everytime you go through a door, or fast travel, if you turn off autosaving, it will fix the long load times
The reason why it is taking forever in skyrim to go from zone to zone is because it requires I think data im not sure but what I do know is that the more file saves you have, the longer the loading time will be.
i heard on the english show Q.I that gold fish are often mistaken to be dead due to them being on their side, a gold fish on its side is bloated and/or stressed but still alive and a fish upside down is when its actually dead
I find this very amusing and also pretty fitting. ;P
