It wasn't because the sites went down. "Knowledge is power" and "Knowing is half the battle." People didn't know about it. That what politians rely on, their constituates not knowing.
Only reason the bill got overturned was money. This time the internet had more money to lobby instead of the MPAA. It should be the constituents whose voice is heard not just the sound of coins in pockets.
