why are decibells negative - transfer function (H) - ratio between output and input sizes in a circuit, for example, volatge of input volume and output volume decibelle function - base 10 logarithm of H^2. So, if H<1, dB's are negative. Assuming I remember the course of IC theory...

I am super sad that you guys don't know your dBs. Its based on a logarithmic scale. The equation is 10Log (P1/P2). If your power ration is less than 1 you will end up with a negative dB (log of a number <= 1 and >0 is negative)
