Sleeping for a constant 8 hours is not a regular historical thing. Medieval people slept for roughly 4 hours then woke up in the middle of the night and stayed up for a couple hours...then slept again. 8 hour sleeping is a modern invention.I'm pretty sure even prehistoric man didn't operate on a "sleep 8 hours a night" sort of cycle either.

i always thought sleep was for energy conservation so we could eat lees back when hunting was not always successful. thus allowing us to become specialized day hunters. the tiredness would be a evolved side effect of doing it for so long. with how are bodys are set up, we require sleep to transfer short term memory into long term. but then again im not a sleep dr, so im just grasping at straws

I remember in one of the podcasts from a few weeks ago Gavin mentioned the pharmacy (and store) 'Boots' and everyone laughed at the name. In one of the pics from Gav's original post about meeting Burnie it looks like they're standing in front of a Boots store.

According to the Internet, HIV/AIDS has been around since the late 19th/early 20th century and began in non-human primates, and then spread to humans.

Around the 63 minute mark when Gus starts questioning why everyone sleeps so often, and asks why we can't just sleep in 30 minute sessions. Actually, I've done some research and came across the "uberman sleep schedule" which is exactly what he was talking about. "The Uberman's sleep schedule revolves around forcing yourself to rely on six twenty to thirty minute naps spread throughout the day for your daily dose of sleep. I stuck to thirty minute naps, currently having them starting roughly at 2 AM, 6 AM, 10 AM, 2 PM, 6 PM, and 10 PM every day." Source: www.kuro5hin.org/story/2002/4/15/103358/720

This was probably brought up already... But they're now thinking that originally people slept at two intervals a day for half as long. We did not originally sleep all through the night.

I love how you guys will just talk out your ass'. Frisbees depend on wind. Frisbees are different from frisbee discs. Try catching a frisbee disc and you will lose your hand (not really but it would hurt). Evolution is the "scientific" idea of this age, but I don't believe it. Sleep is important on a spiritual level. However, I am a fan of siestas. Cool podcast.

The hypocrisy of Jack continues. -_-
Claims he doesn't like it when people joke about punching other people yet he is always talking about wanting to punch Gavin.
