A waffle vendor? never heard of that before. Just saying, not trying to bash or doubt that your grand grand dad made it but What exactly did he serves? Waffles like the one you put in the toaster and put syrup on?

Burnie's old-timey voice is fricken hilarious. Someday, there'll be a short all about it (I hope).

I used to use Flock a lot, which is a Firefox-based browser that connects a bunch of social networks. I really liked it, but I never used it for the social network stuff because I was too paranoid about connecting myself to a browser like that (Facebook, Myspace, Twitter, etc) and having someone use my laptop. It has a cool Youtube search feature at the top that lets you toggle through various video results without fully loading a page.

Another cool feature is that you can set up your home page as an amalgamation of various RSS feeds or sites you want to track so you can see all updates at a glance as the first thing that starts up your browser.

But Google Chrome's replaced Flock for me. I don't need all the bells and whistles, I just want to be able to browse quickly.

Great podcast guys. It's hilarious to read the comments and see how many people posted without listening to the podcast first. Lots of people assuming Geoff is in the podcast.

Yea pretty much. Waffles were vended back in 1904. I guess they were though of more as a snack than a breakfast food. Here's a link: www.ideafinder.com/history/inventions/icecreamcone.htm

Talking about British and their profiling of sicknesses,

David Mitchell is a great internet export from England - TV and Radio Comedian. An all-round smart guy and a wiseguy.

Burnie's old-style voice announcer is great too!

I Got It!
she's not using a cell phone, referring to the "time traveler", she's probably using one of these

it's a western electric model 34A "Audiophone" carbon hearing aid, introduced in 1925, 3 years before this clip was made, so thats probably what that is.

ALthough an interesting thing in this same vein is in this photo,
from 1941. The clothes aren't actually out of period, but's it's just kind of interesting (he's the tall guy on the right side, incase you don't catch it right away.

I first hear about Swiss gun ownership from a stumbleupon a couple years ago. The article is a little outdated but is still interesting

Your air travel discussion made me think about all those new body imaging scanners that are being used now. Has anyone in the RT office had to go through one of those yet? What're your thoughts on them?

The question pretty much boils down to: Would you rather go through the scanner, have a stranger see your naked body and expose yourself to minor radiation, OR be molested by a security screener?

That, and that Charlotte has flights all across the country, and some outside of the country as well.
