If most people take a train of thought to a mental destination, I'm riding a homemade flying machine built mostly of aged fruit and candle wax to get there. I'll get there, it just won't be the same way as the conventional mind would. If that analogy isn't working for you, I'm a little quirky, which is reflected in my sense of humor. I'm a big arts person; I'm a music major, I play guitar (for my major) and I write and like film. Not just mainstream garbage but sometimes actual film. Generally I like being creative however I can be. I spend a lot of time breathing, pumping blood (mostly my own) and hanging out with friends.

A discourse on Pokemon
Many of you may remember the Pokemon fad. Recently, some questions have come to mind about this topic.

First, how did mankind survive with a hundred and fifty species of monsters with amazing abilities survive? Early man was no match for a fire-breathing dragon or a psychic monster which could crush a man's bones with its mind. Were we able to domesticate a few of the more gentle species, use those as protection, and slowly grow into the dominant species?

Also, people store their Pokemon in a PC when they're not being carried around. I highly doubt that the actual animal is carried through a tube to a field somewhere, which means that Pokemon must be encoded somehow. The fact that Pokemon are turned into some sort of red energy when they enter Pokeballs is more evidence to this effect. Somehow, they are encoded and sent into a computer. That means that, somehow, Pokemon can be pirated. Why hasn't Team Rocket explored this avenue yet? This brings up other questions, however. Pokemon can be pirated. So does that mean that a clever hacker could download the encryption for a Mewtwo and unleash a personal army of horrible psychic monsters upon the world? Can the code be manipulated and combined with other code to create hybrids? Can the codes be corrupted, so that you end up with Charizard that is fuzzy around the edges and whose organs don't work right? It bears considering.

Another thing: where is PETA during all of this? Both in real life and in Pokemon land. One would think that PETA would hate a show featuring animals fighting each other as a source of entertainment. That's what Michael Vick went to prison for. You'd also think that there would be some Pokemon version of PETA as well.

And people eat Pokemon. They must. I have seen meat on that show, and no non-Pokemon animals. No cows, no pigs, nothing. They eat Pokemon. They eat their pets. Isn't this a bit of a double standard? Pokemon aren't allowed to kill each other in the ring but people are allowed to eat them?

Which brings up a question about the actual battles. The loser really has to submit to the winner's wishes? "My Golem beat your Pikachu, now you have to do what I say?" No one seems to have considered a line like "I don't think so... Desert Eagle, I choose you!" They don't seem to understand the finer points of coercion. Team Rocket certainly doesn't.

And then there's the languages. A Pokemon's name probably, on average, three syllables. That doesn't leave many combinations to make words with, and certainly not enough for an entire nexus. They couldn't possibly communicate the kinds of thoughts they do with only a few words to choose from. Not with the speed and efficiency which they seem to.

Anyway, just food for thought.
